NAFC on Television

I just have a simple question. I keep searching for the television show on Versus but all I ever see any more is our sister show North American Hunter. Is there just a certain time when the North American Fisherman is on during the year? Thank you and have a great day. I love the show and enjoy being a life member.

Knot Wars

I see that next week's episode will pit the Trilene against the Palomar. This ought to be good! Concerning the Trilene knot, I seem to remember that knot from years ago except we called it something different. It really isn't anything but a clinch knot with an extra pass through the eye and we all know that the best knots all run the line through the eye twice!
Milwaukee Lake trout episode

I tuned in to a repeat of the episode featuring Eric Haataja (sp?) fishing Milwaukee harbor for Lake Trout with Steve. While it was mentioned many times that these fish should be released, at no point was anything said about the fact that lake trout from Lake Michigan are listed on the WiDNR site as being potentially contaminated with PCBs and fish over 30" should not be consumed! (source-Wisconsin DNR web site) This is a problem common to all the large predator species that live longer than a few years and consumption of any large, long lived species from Lk. Mich should be restricted or avoided. PCBs are cumulative and deposit in the fatty tissues of these fish. Because of the way fat is distributed in the salmonids it cannot be cut out like in some other species. Tom
North American Fisherman On TV, and (unfortunatly) on Versus

I've been a member of NAFC for nearly a year. I saw that there was a program of North American Fisherman from the beginning, but didn't know where to find it locally. I just last month ran into it somehow and found it was airing on Versus in the the Tacoma WA area. I have no idea of how much I have missed.
I do know this, I despise Knot Wars! Tie the knot, test it, but WHERE does it break? At the hook eye, on the line above the knot? Somewhere IN the knot? I have no way of knowing, it's so useless!

Idea for a new segment for TV

I know we already have this forum to ask questions and someone points out how to or where to get this information! Well my idea is cut out the middle man and go right to the source! Well this is how I think it should be televised! How to repair or improve your boats step by step. We have a lot of anglers out there that don't have large bass boats and also don't have the funds to go to a professional to get it fixed! Some them barely gets by but still likes to have their Jon boat or something similar! I have a semi V hull and it is fiberglass and also a 10' pelican pontoon for small ponds or lakes! On my large boat the fiberglass, it doesn't have a live-well and I will have to put one in or just use a portable one! We could use more advise on this matter and show how to install all different electrical and none electrical equipment! Plus show how to mount transducers on Trolling motors or on the hull of a boat! Also for more installing a bench or anything on our boat and we could send letters or emails to ask questions how to or even give you advise on something! Well this about all I like to point out, and maybe others would have more ideas about this kind of show! We even could have a group of your choosing to go to someones home and make the repair after they sign a waver for any injuries that could come up! But the person could be Senior citizen or even handicap or just don't have the funds to make the improvements or repair!
Dennis

I think I have had a great Idea for a show.

I received a link in email of a video of Steve, and Dr.Hal fishing new waters in Minnesota. This gave me an idea. Have an essay contest with a small entry fee ( say $5 ) where you tell why you think you should be the one chosen, i.e. what you can contribute to the situation as in knowledge of the fish in your area, and why your favorite unknown to other areas lake should be chosen. Then let Dr. Hal chose the winner. Who ever he chooses wins a fishing trip with him on his boat at the lake that you wrote about in your essay. Set a limit window on the length of the essay, say 300-500 words. The entry fees be used to pay Dr. Hal cost of travel, and use the fishing trip as an episode of the NAF tv show. If it is something that you would be interested in then post here, and perhaps if enough of us say we would enter then they would do it.
life member since 07-09

The World's Smallest Planer Boards - Infomercial???

Below are 3 videos I made and I want to know if folks think they have the makings of a good full length infomercial. Running infomercials for a year or 2 seems like the only way to get enough exposure to get chain stores to want them. You'll need to cut and paste the links into a new browser window one at a time.

-

"The BulletBobber Fishing System" is my latest and has music and a little humor along with instructions on how to use. The World's Smallest Planer Boards has on-demand direction control.

Kings in Michigan

Loved the episode on kings on lake Michigan! Being a bass guy, I can relate to this type of fishing. There is a period of spring here in PA where we get into hybrid stripers on a local lake throwing suspending jerkbaits on extremely shallow flats. Always great to think outside the box, better yet if ya get good results! Keep up the good work! It's nice to see unconventional methods work from time to time!
LM 99' SE PA
