I saw a northern pike fishing tip online http://www.twin-lakes-air.com/pike.htm where you attach an old Rapala, minus lip and hooks, on your line and run your leader from the back of the Rap to your spoon. Has anyone tried this? Had any luck?

does anyone know any different ways to finesses fish pickerel. i have been using a 2inch tube on a 4lb trout setup. does anybody know any other ways that might be less prone to bite-offs. thanks

i was pickerel fishing today and i was using a bluefox vibrax tiger pattern and the pickerel were killing it, but then a bull pickerel bit the line because i wasn't using a leader. Then i tied on a copper pattern but didn't get any more hits. Does the color affect it that much?

does anyone throw light spinners (1/8oz) with wire leaders. If so does it affect the action of it at all. just curious because i been going for pickerel latley and i have lost a couple of spinners on bite-offs and i lost a 20+ incher today. thanks for any help.

swimbaits and pike

yesterday i was out fishing and caught a smaller pike about 16-17 inches or so. i caught it on a zoom super fluke, color bubblegum, 5 inches long. do pike usually go after these? i have caught pike before but it is usually using something shiney and that spins like a spoon or something along those lines. i would like to hear some thoughts on this. thanks

So, to put the integrity of these fisherman to the test I am asking for some of your most praised fisheries. Expand the knowledge and the joy of fishing to those who are not on them. Hey there, this is my 1st post. Exciting stuff. I am from the metro minneapolis area and adore my musky fishing. I am a avid angler and have only heard small river muskys spoken in whispers. I would love to move some of these river fish. I enjoy lake fishing but a more close quartered match would be appreciated. Help me out with some locations. here is a Pic of my best Muskie so far, Caught on 14 June 2012, on Little Saint Germain Lake in Wisconsin, 44 1/2 inches, at Dusk, off the dock, using a Tyrant Dictator (straight black), on a 7 foot legend ultra saint croix muskie rod, medium heavy weight action. She was a beast, 8 inches across the back, tail was so thick, when reviving her I could not get my fingers around the base of her tail, caught, photo, successful release. All in all an Awesome fish, what was better is that I got to share the moment with my wife, who was there more for taking evening horizon pictures, but got thrust into the job of heaving this beast out of the water with a net. which she did with flying colors.

Making Titanium leaders

I am going to make my own titanium leaders and was looking for info from someone that has done it, my question is using a eye crosser knot or palomar knot or non slip loop knot be ok to tie the leader wire (Knot 2 Kinky) to the swivel and snap swivel or is there a better knot to use? Thanks for your help.

I am looking for a little better explaination of all the talk about major and minor phases. I understand sun and moon rise and set, but I keep hearing people say they caught fish on a major or minor. I have tried to research this a little more, and I keep coming up empty handed. Any additional information will be greatly appreciated.

Pike fishermen... what are you using for leaders??

I like to pike fish in the spring... I've been using 20# steel leaders on my husky jerks and such... but hate that these leaders take a lot of the action away from a bait... and they make a floating or suspending bait sink.

I have a 25# spool of Bass Pro Shops XPS Florocarbon that I was thinking of using for leaders this spring. Will this work or will I simply be feeding my husky jerks, spinnerbaits, and x-raps to the Esox???

50" Musky Limit

Hello, My name is Mike. I also am a member of the Moraine Musky Club in PA. The MMA and myself our trying to increase the Musky size limit in Lake Arthur to 50". Any one from NY,Tenn,Wisc. or any other areas with higher size limits that can help me show proof of better reproduction, less money spent on stalking or other helpful information would be greatly appreciated. Or any one else that would like to give their input would also be helpful. Thanks you for helping protect our trophy musky waters, and practicing safe catch and release.

Got out on the local pond today with my son and an elderly gent caught a northern of about 25" and 2 1/2#. I had a Rapala Floating Minnow rigged and immediatly worked the area with it. He then told me that this was a "bad" lure for pike!
