Very Odd Largemouth Bluegills

I dont know if it is a fluke, or a mutation, or something.... but in the lake i fish at, i have caught a fish that looks to be a mix between a largemouth bass and a bluegill. to be specific, it looks like a largemouth bass but with blue streeks on its face. ill take pictures the next time i get one. I know its not possible, but it is quite interesting.
Connecting with Bowfin?

I have been fishing in a body of water with plenty of Bowfin. Whenever I use a sucker (4.5 to 5" long), the fish go crazy over it. They fight for it, tearing it to shreds, until one of the fish gets it in it's mouth. The water is relatively shallow, so I can see the fish taking the bait. Whenever I set the hook, the fish starts shaking it's head and the bait comes flying back at me. I have failed to hook up with any Bowfin multiple times. The hook I am using is about an inch long (red) octopus hook. What am I doing wrong!

What Is The Most Unusual Thing You Have Ever Caught

I just caught my most unusual today. I was fishing for bass with a Zoom Mega Finese 5 inch worm. I casted into some weeds, felt a tug, and set the hook. Turned out to be a nice sized frog. Hooked through his mouth. I couldn't believe it. I have never caught a frog before. Too bad I'm not a fan of frog legs.
Lifer since 05/08....Ky....Fred

Weird, True, and not a bass!

I was fishing in Kent Lake, located in Kensington Metro park in southeast Michigan, a few days ago. I was using a texas rigged worm near where the Huron River empties into the lake. All of the sudden it felt like I had a bass, but it wasn't budging. When I got it in I was suprised to find that it was a yellow and green striped tenis ball. Looked like it was on the bottom of the lake for some time. I tooks some pictures but I don't have enough time to post them right now. Has anyone else caught a tennis ball?

Goldfish and Koi Carp (invasives?)

I was fishing about a month ago for Bluegill off a dock and I spotted a bright orange carp! I am assuming that somebody released it into the lake when it got to big for a home aquarium or pond. Since then I have spotted several others, including one Goldfish. I am wondering if anyone has seen or caught an "aquarium" fish in waters that you fish in.

SQUAWFISH

Whether you call them Squawfish or Northern Pike Minnow, (political correctness aside) the majority of fishermen can agree, this is not the fish you wanted when you casted out! There is nothing more frustrating and humiliating than pulling in a big ol' Squawfish. Especially when your buddys are around. It's more aggravating because, since they fight so hard, you thought you had a 5 pound bass! Listening to the snickers as you remove the hook from the slimy bottom dweller, you must now decide what to do with him. Gut and kill him? Throw him on the shore? Turn him in for the reward? Or let him go, so he can steal your bait another day? And thats where things get tricky. In some parts of the country, including mine, there is a bounty for these aquatic invaders. The bounty is around 3 or 4 dollars a fish. The reason being, Squawfish are an incredibly disruptive and invasive species of fish. They consume the spawn of threatened gamefish like Salmon and not to mention they are hardly edible at all (I am not going to address the issue of Squawfish consumption here because, quite frankly, I find it disgusting. If you don't mind eating polluted, garbage fish than thats your prerogative.) So my question is, what do you do with your (Northern Pike Minnow) Squawfish?

Warmouth Bass

Has anyone caught one of these pesky critters? The other day, I caught one that was pretty good sized off a Rebel Bumble Bug. I was mainly fishing for spawning sunfish when I saw a what looked to be a very large sunfish on a bed. I cast towards it and, as soon as I began to reel in, the fish hammered it. Only after I got it out of the water did I realize that it was a Warmouth. I've caught Warmouth before, but this one was my personal best. Five days later, a fishing derby was held at that same body of water. I wasn't catching anything, so I snooped around to see what other people were catching. To my surprise, the contents of their buckets consisted of mainly Warmouth Bass, which was highly unususal, considering that Bluegill and other sunfish are highly abundant in that waterway.

Anyway, this is a topic intended for stories about catching Warmouth and to share the pictures of the ones you've caught.

If you want to see the picture of the Warmouth I mentioned in my story, please visit this link:

http://anglerslodge.weebly.com/other.html

It's the last fish at the bottom.

Zander in North America?

Zander:
http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/Spe...&AT=zander

I was reading one of my In-Fisherman magazines from a few years ago and I read an interesting article. It seems that several years ago, Zander were experimentally stocked into Spiritwood Lake (North Dakota) in 1989. Fear of that they would escape the lake and move into other waterways led to efforts to remove them a few years later. In 2006 someone caught and released a Zander that measured over 30 inches long and had a 20 inch girth (a North American record)!

Does anyone ever gotten the chance to fish for these fish? What is your opinion on stocking these fish in North America?
