Visiting Mass. the month of july.

Hello fellow members, me and the family will be visiting Mass. the month of july this year to see the wife's family. I'd like to get in alittle fishing with my boys while there. Never been to the coast to fish, being from Kansas would like some recommendations on some charters or some info on other places to fish. We will be staying in an rv park near the cape the first week we are there. The rest of the time we will be more inland around East Douglas, I believe. Would like some info PLEASE. Looking forward to visiting your fine state.

Ever think "fish hatchery?!"

There is an opportunity to purchase/lease a fish hatchery near Buffalo NY. I personally have been to the property and was amazed at what I had seen. The Wiscoy Creek feeds the upper portion of the hatchery where bass and fathead minnows were raised, those two species remain! This could make for some good "wilderness fishing". The lower portion of the hatchery is fed by fresh water springs that are used for raising rainbow and brown trout.

The majority of the property is wooded and could be used for hunting, deer tracks are plentiful! Pheasant and quail could be imported and raised for hunting as well! There are plenty of sights that could be used for camping and even cabins. The possibilities are endless!!

I have worked for the Colorado Division Of Wildlife and find a great peace and joy knowing that I had the opportunity to replenish what so many of us enjoy doing. Whether it is catch and release, catch and eat, or even to go for that trophy catch!!

Just think of the income you could produce and give you more time to enjoy life...

If you are interested, you can contact me either through this forum, or via email at "detail_king_alpha@hotmail.com".

November Small Mouth Bass fishing at its Best

Nothing, I mean Nothing, can compare to the Day I had today.

My Buddy DaddyPickle couldn't fish today, so by 10:45 am I was on the water in My W500, Wave Walk kayak, paddling down to my favorite spots to fish this time of year.
Temps were 45.6 degrees, slight breeze, misting to light rain.
Air temps were 49 degrees, but I was warm as toast.
Full rain gear, with just the right layers underneath!!

I did throw a crank bait for just a bit, I can't put those things down now.
Not even a bump after 20 cast, but thats okay, I only brought one with me.
Switched over to my 8lb vanish, on my lite rod rigged with a dinger, then a grub, then a paddle tail, switching up as the day went on.
If you weren't hitting bottom you weren't catching fish.
I caught over 12 perch, and 22+ Smallies!!!!!
Oh yeah and one rock bass!!!

That biggest Smallie jumped three times, the first jump I almost pissed myself, and my new net saved the day many times!!!!!

Can't wait for the next trip!!
I'll let the pictures tell you the rest of the story.
One crazy chick, that Loves to fish.
You can take what you want from life......As long as you give a little Back.

Fishing on the come back in New England

Originally posted by: Johneeed on 8/4/2005 4:49:35 PM

yes it's on the rebound, but really if the fishing is so great how come i haven't caught a scup (porgy) in 10 years, (at legal size) and if it's so good why is there still a size limit???
I used to catch by the cooler loads: Mackeral there gone, use to catch them all the time for food and bait I haven't caught a mack or a tinker in 7-8 years.... Bluefish use to be a common thing esp. 10+ pounds, now your lucky to get a 5 pounder...&years ago they called a 5 lb. blue a snapper cause it was small....
where the big blues go???
I gave up on fishing for flounder because of all the tumours i've found in them, due to the pollution levels. Yeah striper fishing is good but the 50 lbers of years ago are NOT a common thing like they use to be.
now I'm 33 and have been fishing since before i could walk. I EVEN remember the 16" size limit...not alot of guys my age can remember that...
when the stocks crashed for 20 years (back in 1979-80)...not a single soul was catching stripers, I was fishing. when a 36" striper was caught at the cape cod canal and made news all the way up to maine, I was there I saw it caught, and it was not a 40 Lbs fish like the gossip said it was.
Yes fishing has gotten better with the new management laws that taken effect, But its still way for from what it use to be...

there are just too many people fishing, the stocks can't keep up naturally, then in the off season the russians and japs, and european get to come INTO OUR WATERS and NET THOUSANDS of pounds of fish for there processing boats sitting in international waters for processing the HERRING, MACKERAL, SHAD, ALEWIFE, MENENHADEN(pogy) etc... I'VE SEEN IT!!!!!!!!
Yes the fishing is good but it;s not great, it's been better in years past, but let's hope it all works out for our future generations....

Johnny D.

bullhead/hornpout/(poisonous cats)

Originally posted by: angwolfc on 7/3/2006 10:22:04 PM

My grandfather would bring home a bucket(more like a tub) full every time he went out. This was on a local small pond/fishing hole/stream system. My question is; does anyone know an easy way to clean them while being humane. I do catch 'em, but I love animals and always kill them quick if I'm going to eat them. I took one apart once to see what the little cat was eating, and I found that the poison gland looks just like a scorpions tail, being on the tip of the pectoral fins and dorsal. Any tips on this subject will be appreciated(or anything anyone wants to say about bullheads for that matter). Happy days and nights on the water to y'all.

I like to go to the Cape Cod Canal and areas around the Cape to try to hook some stripers. I'm still a rookie at it and I need some inside tips from the native New Englanders on how to catch them.

What's the best bait or lure to use?

What kind of rig should I be using?

Is it all about getting started just before high tide, or is there more to it?

Where are the hot spots?

Thank you!
