Pike questions??? PLEASE HELP!

Hello fellow fishing nuts!

I posted a long time ago when i first moved up here kinda with the same questions. I've been living here in the interior (Fairbanks) in a dry cabin for about 2 years now, didn't get too much help from my first posting, besides from Dennis (the guy at salmonslayer) (thanks Dennis by the way) so i figured id give it another go..Basically I've become pretty familiar with the area, have had lots of luck with catching grayling (not much else) but im still yet to find a solid place to catch some nice pike, hell for that matter any pike, road access would be a plus, but im willing to hike/ bushwhack or wade to get to em! Id really appreciate any feedback or suggestions thanks all! and Tight lines eh!

Anchorage hotel recommendations

So, my wife and I are traveling to Anchorage on 26 June, 2013, for 10 days. We have a fishing lodge reservation in Soldotna from 29 June to 6 July but looking for a hotel or place to stay in the Anchorage area from the 26th to the 29th before we head south to Soldotna. We want to do some sightseeing and stuff for the first three days in Alaska before committing to a week of fishing. So, anyone have suggestions for Anchorage. Yeah, I'm finding all kinds of hotels/motels online, but just seeing if anyone have a favorite they might recommend. We trying not to spend a lot of $$$ for the motels as we've already dropped $$$$$ for the fishing lodge, if you know what I mean. Thanks.
Ak salmon lures and flies

OK, our AK fishing vacation is set for June 29 to July 6 on the Kenai with daily trips to different locations. My wife and I will be spending 1/2 days with guides but afternoons on our own. We plan on doing some fishing on our own away from the lodge with either rental spinning rods or our own fly rods that we intend on bringing up there. So, my question is, what kind of lures and flies should we have in our arsenal to fish for Alaskan salmon (or trout) from the shorelines of the Kenai, Russian and any other waters in the area. The lodge manager said to get what the locals are using. Well, it would be nice to pick that stuff up down here in CA, or go through our tackle boxes for what we already have or even tie our own salmon/trout flies. So, any help from you Alaskan fishermen would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Planning 50th B-day to Alaska

I'm only 48 now, but I want to start planning for my 50th birthday present to myself which would be a fishing trip to Alaska with my wife (an avid fishing lady from who grew up in San Diego's waters and have fished with me for halibut and salmon on Vancouver Island) and teenage daughter. We want to fish for halibut, salmon and other species but really unsure as the best way to approach this trip. I was considering an all-inclusive resort or renting an RV upon arrival and drive to the fishing locations. But, we also want to bring home part of our catch as well as visit some of Alaska's beautiful country. We'll be budgeting our funds, but still want to enjoy our trip. I would really appreciate any kind of suggestions that you folks in Alaska can recommend.
Kenai closure, what gives?

I'm planning my vacation next summer to the Kenai and now I see that it was closed prematurely this summer. Should I reconsider my plans to Kenai for another Alaska destination, like Sitka? I just want to bring my wife up there for a week next summer and hope to get into a variety of species. I don't want to drift down a river all day with no hook-ups. Apparently, that may be the issue with the Kenai. I would appreciate any help on this issue.

Thanks.
