Looking for onshore fishing areas in Tampa.

Hiya everyone. I've lived in Tampa for about 3 years now, and have just started back into fishing. Anyone know of some decent areas to fish from shore?? ive never really fished saltwater so all this is kinda new to me..... Any help would be greatly appreciated.....thx.

I have never fished this area before, and I am wondering if any members can help me find a few good places to try some shore fishing in the area. Also, what types of baits would be best to bring along at this time of year. Thanks for any help.

I'm heading to Key West this Friday (18th) for three weeks with the US Navy and plan on fishing as much as I can. I'm bringing large spinning rods and a couple of fly rods. I've been to Key West a few times in the past and I was just hoping that someone can enlighten me on how the fishing will be this time of year and if there is a recommendation for a guide IF I can find a buddy to fish with and split the costs. Islamorada Florida Keys Fishing in October

We've had a lot of wind the last couple days and it's expected to continue through the weekend from 10/12/12. Yesterday it was a hard northwest wind of 20 mph and we made our way back to islamorada backcountry fishing cape sable hoping the northerlyeasterly wind would hold there and keep the waters semi-clean. Unfortunately it swung around from the northwest which it has a way of doing back there this time of year october fishing in the florida keys, and the water in the gulf was a mess plus big swells making the ride a little bouncy but nothing my seacraft couldn't handle. Luckily the water where we fished was semi-protected, we fished some points on the low water as it was just starting in and picked a few nice reds and a snook on pinfish, also our friend Bob Mclure who fished with us hooked and lose a very nice snook on light tackle casting shrimp. Bob was a major league pitcher for 20 years in the MLB, pitching for many teams including the Brewers in the 1982 world series. Great to have him join us on this october islamorada fishing report. He has still coached for many teams in the last couple decades, including our own Miami Marlins! We tried a few other mouths and points however the high water seemed to have the fish scattered further in for our october fishing in islamorada. So went deep into some of the creeks to some very shallow stuff, luckily the in tide and high water I had no problem getting my larger boat around. We found some neat spots, picking half a dozen reds or so in 4 spots, plus a few more snook and a black drum, all in 2 foot of water or less. Redfish in Islamorada is going to be great this winter! Later we headed back towards home and fished east cape. Got into several nice snook here catching another 5 or so, plus losing several on trees and downed debris, plus some more nice reds and a small goliath. Islamorada snook fishing is great in the fall! We also found a few more nice spots with reds in deeper water, and had one tarpon eat and spit a pinfish. Also lost a snook who jumped into a tree that was likely close to 20 lbs! Very fun day didn't get in till almost 5:00!

im new to snook redfish and tarpon fishing and would like any advice you guys could give me. i lost my first tarpon last weekend 20-30 lbs and my first snook about a pound. what line should i use for the majority of inshore fish and what lures. i fish around tampa and mainly fish the hillsborough river, honeymoon island, and sunshine skyway pier when i go saltwater fishing.so far ive been using big jerkbaits and anything that represents baitfish. im a bass fisherman so please help, im trying to get one of those 3 fish this weekend.

Key West or Bust!

Members need your help! I will be headed to Key West in 4 weeks and i need some guides and guidance! Me plus two friends want to fish! We are looking to catch quality fish in quantity! We are looking to do two half days along with potentially renting a boat ourselves and seeing what we can get into!

Tarpon, Permit, snook not interested in 3 hour fights but also not interested in catching 200 12 inch yellow tail.

I will be heading to your great state the week of the 23rd Jan. My daughter has gotten an Internship at Disney and we will be driving her down. I would like to get at least one day of fishing in while there with the family ( I may never get back). I heard about the above mentioned charter service and wondered if anyone has heard of them or used them and if they are any good or not?
