Red River Fargo ND Fishing Report 2013

Today was the first day I was able to get out on the open water. Until lately the river has been frozen over.

Current conditions on the Red: There are floating ice chunks but they did get smaller as the day progressed. The temperature is in the thirties. The river is at a major flood stage which has put a lot of the standard fishing locations underwater. The water is running swiftly. The water quality is the same as always when fishing the Red, very muddy.

I did not happen to caught any fish in the 5 hours I spent fishing today. Several other fisherman around me also did not have any luck.

Hey all..
It's been a great winter for ice fishing! I just moved up to ND this past fall so I am still getting to know the lakes up here. I've been up to Devils Lake a few times this winter and have enjoyed the fishing.

Where: Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site, 320 East Avenue B in Bismarck.

NEW Youth Program Needs Your Help.

My name is Dustin Thompson and I live in McLaughlin, S.D. on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. I am a NAFC Life Member. Here on Standing Rock we face a huge number of misfortunes that is a result of poverty. Our comunities suffer from high suicide rates; high unemployment rates; drug and alcohol abuse from both minors and adults. Here in the Bear Soldier Comunity of McLaughlin, S.D. we have a community based gym and very little resources. I am a youth coordinator fighting to come up with activities that will benifit our children. Activities that will give our children excieting times without having to deal with the pressures of alcohol or drugs.

I am trying to start a youth fishing club. I have secured a van and gas to take the children to the river. I have secured a building to hold classes for interested youth who want to develope their interesting in the great sport of fishing. As I have the ability to teach the children different aspects of fishing in a classroom setting, we have no gear to hit the waters.

Here is what I am asking, I am looking for people who can help make this youth project a success. We need help in securing donations of fishing equipment for shore fishing. Equipment such as Rods & Reels, Tackle, Fishing Lines, Etc. As of now we have very limited supply. It is with hope that the donations of special people such as the NAFC Members will be able to keep the dream alive.

Big red lund and I almost always wear my club jacket in the morning so I shouldn't be hard to find at the ramp. I also work with a couple of guys that have been fishing Nelson and say the bass/bluegill have been biting really well so that's always a good place to take a kid I just wouldn't eat anything from that lake.

Well the fishing as usual was outstanding. The weather however was miserable hot but the fishing was just as good when we could get any wind at all. Everyone had a blast, fished 8-12' deep with small lead heads with jumbo leeches with most of the fish being 15-18". Good luck to everyone please don't let me be the only one leaving reports.
