Moving back to SD

Hey everybody, I'll be moving back to SD sometime in the next couple months, probably to somewhere near Rapid City and I just thought I'd see if there was any activity on the forums from folks in SD. I'd love to find a fishing buddy that could help show me some new waters.

Well I probably won't make it to Sturgis this year during Bike Week but my wife and I are planning a family trip with the kids to the Black Hills in early July. More than likely we will camp at Deerfield Lake near the area where I camped with my Harley and my brother-in-law and his Honda last year. This time I'll be pulling our 5th wheel camper.

Of course I'll be packing rods to chase bass and trout. I caught a bunch of bass last year but got skunked on trout. I'll regret not having the 1200 with me but at least I'll be with people I love. Our little guy is starting to wonder if he is capable of catching a fish. Based on last years experience, I think I can put him on bucket loads of rock bass. This should be a great trip for all of us.

Now if I could just get Mindy to fish-------JCT

YOUTH PROGRAM IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE

My name is Dustin Thompson and I live in McLaughlin, S.D. on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. I am a NAFC Life Member. Here on Standing Rock we face a huge number of misfortunes that is a result of poverty. Our comunities suffer from high suicide rates; high unemployment rates; drug and alcohol abuse from both minors and adults. Here in the Bear Soldier Comunity of McLaughlin, S.D. we have a community based gym and very little resources. I am a youth coordinator fighting to come up with activities that will benifit our children. Activities that will give our children excieting times without having to deal with the pressures of alcohol or drugs.

I am trying to start a youth fishing club. I have secured a van and gas to take the children to the river. I have secured a building to hold classes for interested youth who want to develope their interesting in the great sport of fishing. As I have the ability to teach the children different aspects of fishing in a classroom setting, we have no gear to hit the waters.

Here is what I am asking, I am looking for people who can help make this youth project a success. We need help in securing donations of fishing equipment for shore fishing. Equipment such as Rods & Reels, Tackle, Fishing Lines, Etc. As of now we have very limited supply. It is with hope that the donations of special people such as the NAFC Members will be able to keep the dream alive.

My son and family recently moved up to around the sioux falls area . he has us lined up to go to lake herman middle of may.any info on the lake would be appreciated. we will be in boats. first of all, how is the walleye fishing? second, how's the rest? lol Also, any good suggestions for lakes around the sf area? thanks a bunch LM since 2001

It's that time of year again to venture out on the ice. Has anyone gone out to try their luck with the first ice? I'm making my first trip this weekend, I've been hearing reports of 6 inches of ice on most lakes where I'm from in NE SD.
