Boulder Mountain the return...

4 weeks ago my son and I hit Boulder mountain and when we returned mamatrout
mentioned she would like to go. So after spending a month to outfit mamtrout and
my daughter we decieded to hit the mountain again. Weather was iffy but went
anyway. Glad we did! Left really early so as to get a head start on the
mountain. Got down to Torrey with some time to spare so we hit Capitol Reef
National Park for a couple of hours. Upon arrival at Torrey found that there had
been a monster rain storm onvernight from all the standing water on the roads.
Trail was a little muddy at first but not unmanagable. Got up to the camp site
about an hour or so later at Blind Lake. Saw two tubers already out on the water
and started to get an itch that needed scratching, and no it was not the
skeeters. Set up camp then
pulled the caddis u tube out and got it ready. Hit the water soon after for a
nice float. Started with my fly rod and an olive woolly bugger. That seemed to
be the ticket today. I caught a nice brookie to start with, soon after I came up
with a nice splake. Time to mark another species off the bucket list.
Just before I decided to get off the water due to the gathering thunderheads I
pulled out a small rainbow. Got off just in time to get things put away before
the daily afternoon thunderstorn hit.

Next morning I was up at a bright
and early time of 6:40 am. Decided to hit the nice calm lake again. Once out
there I had a couple of hits and misses and then decided it was time to go for a
little breakfast. I threw out a spoon just for giggles and WHAM!!! a fat bow
took at and ran. Spent the afternoon hiking to Pear, Beaver Dam Resevoir, and
Fish Creek. Saw some fish at Beaver Dam that I molested for a while but them
headed back before the afternoon thunderstor{1}**** again. A boy scout troop
showed up and demonstrated the new method bank tanglers have of removing
unwanted power squadron. After watching them I
realized this could be used on us tubers.

Left the next morning early to
get a head start. After leaving the trail mamatrout got an itch for a little
detour. Our 3 1/2 hour drive just turned into a 12 hour drive. She wanted
to see Bryce Canyon National Park so we ended up touring the rest of Boulder
Mountain, three State Parks, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and
Bryce Canyon NP. In all a great fishing trip and tour. Sorry if some of the pics
are not too great but the fish were trying not to be too photogenic. Put the pics in my photo album.

Now
all I need is some info and a location on the south slope of Boulder Mountain
for an adventure next year.

Slimed out on Starvation...

What started out as a family flotilla attacking Starvation Reservoir turned into
a Daddy Daughter affair since my son wasn't feeling to well once we got to the
reservoir. This of course quickly turned into a slime. We launched to
perfect conditions at 7 am in bunny gulch. Water temps a nice 67. The water
levels are up and lots of flooded brush. Found all the fishies up close to
shore. I quickly had a couple of perch on line ranging from dinks to 9 inchers
plus. My daughter went out with two poles and succeded in turning three into
knots right away. While I was untying and rerigging one of her rods she
proceeded to tie up my drop shot rig. So finally after rerigging we headed out
for more fish. While floating with the breeze and motoring back my daughter
hooked into a nice smallmouth bass. Her first. Shortly thereafter she cuaght a
nice Yellow perch as well. Both on a chartreuse with silver flake jig. I was
able to boat a small wallette at 9 inches. We were both on our way to slime
city. She soon got bored after a three hour jaunt in the bay. I dropped her off
on shore to play for a while and headed back out. Since I got tired of messing
with the perch I headed across the bay to see what I could find. Found a nice
area of flooded trees and started to throw a jig. WHAM! (I love that word).
Hooked into something rather large. Got it to the toon and thought I had a chub.
Upon further inspection a nice smallmouth probably around 12 inches. It was
camera shy and decided to take off with my mangled hook just before I was able
to get my camera out. After messing with the smallies a while longer decided to
head back to the car when I saw and heard the thunder heads in the distance.
Started to drag a woolly bugger behind me and had a hit. Missed the hook up and
continued when another hit. This time I got the hook up, turned out to a be a
nice 15 inch rainbow trout. After a nice photo shoot the rainbow was invited
home to dinner with mamatrout. Had one more really
good hit and miss before I got back just as the forecasted wind and storm picked
up. Good time to hit the shore and got packed up just in time as a gully washer
hit the lake. All in all a great day spent at Starvation. Hope to get back soon.

Also this was a great trip to see how I could haul the minnows tubes and
mamatrouts FC4 on the toon trailer. All worked out well.
All Fish in Utah

Hey everybody my name is walker I am new to the site and very new to fishing in general I have gone with my grandapa when I was little and my bro to but just recently in 2010 I fell in love with it I went a couple times with my friend dylan and me and him came up with a goal to catch all the species in utah in a year so i will be sharing all the many trips for all the different kinds of fish with my first time catching a species and my biggest fish of that species. My friend droped out on me about half way through but I went strong when the pictures start with just me taking them thats when he stoped going ha ha. but here we go this is my first fish of the year its in march was pretty cold for shallow bass but I got this one to strike by jigging a plastic worm in watermelon color it was the only one I got that day but still a nice one

This one is the biggest large mouth I have caught same place same worm but this was one of the times I went with my bro in 2007 dont know how I didnt get hooked after catchin this one haha.
