Was just curious if anyone fished Holston Lake or the North Fork River. I live in Washington County and was just curious who else from the area is out there.

Anyone Fishing at Lake Anna consistantly? I am looking for Stripers, Large Mouth Bass and the Blue Cats that are in there.

My Dad is moving down there soon and needs to know the spots.

Freshwater fishing license is now $23

Included with the all of the new state laws was the increase of state freshwater license to $23.

I think when my current license expires I'm going purchases a lifetime license.

44 and under = $260
45-50 = $210
51-55 = $160
56-60 = $110
61-64 = $60
65 and over = $20

at $260 you could have it paid off in 11 years, most likely less since the price is going to increase more than once during that time.

New to Central Virginia

Hi Fellow Commonwealthers,
My name is Dan, Lifer since 06. I have recently sold the house in South Jersey and relocated to the Richmond Virginia area.
I haven't found too many spots to fish around here yet. I have been to the Chickahominy River and lake which is really good fishing, but the river side is a little too busy in the summer months for a guy on a kayak with all the fast moving boats whizzing around. The lake side is good fishing with all the grass and cypress trees. I have caught Bass, crappie, Pickerel, Stripers, Yellow Perch. Looking to hook a Bowfin and maybe a Gar. The locals seem to like to jig for the Shad and Herring in the early spring months.
I have also been to the Swift Creek Reservoir a couple of times. This is close to my new residence. Still haven't caught a fish there. I found a couple small ponds but they are not very fruitful so far. If anyone knows of any places to hit within about an hour or less from Richmond, I would appreciate a shout out.

Fishing around Great Falls

I will be in the Great Falls area for about a week or so and am looking to fish the Potomac River. I'm wondering what species I should target to have the best luck and what to use. I would like to catch some cats or bass but I'd really just like a pull on the line. Anyone have any suggestions for the area?

I hit Burke Lake just about every weekend, always Saturday and often Sunday. I also take a day off work now and then. I usually rent the johnboat and row it, but sometimes I'll fish the dam or if it's windy I'll fish from the pier.

Anybody else in the DC area go to Burke often? Let's meet up and tell fish stories.

ok so i know there's many lakes and rivers to fish off a boat and the only one place i'm found that i can bank fish, i don't care where it is as long as it's in va beach, pungo, or chesapeake. it has to be freshwater mainly cause it the only kinda fishin me and my dad do,
