Steelhead fishing locations

Ok, I'm just going to put this out here and maybe other places, trying to get some information. I've been steelhead fishing with JustDave in Oregon a few times now and would like to find places a bit closer to home to fish. I hear all kinds of things like, "The Chehalis", "Skykomish", "Bogachiel and Calawa", "Snohomish" and so on but, these rivers may be several hundred miles long. What I'm looking for is maybe a few more precise locations or directions to them where I can fish from the bank. How about GPS coordinates or specific trails/roads that I can go to? I've read posts on various sites where people say they fished so and so but if you're not a local, or hhfamiliar with the place, it doesn't tell you anything. Or at least it doesn't tell ME anything. It seems like a lot of the time they're more like nicknames for areas, not anything that you'd find on a map.
How about it, can anyone here in Washington help me out? I live in Port Orchard on the Kitsap Penninsula. Thanks!
Hey prober

Hey, I received your E-mail and now I am having trouble with mine.

You asked about Yuma and one of the things I mentioned was www.yumamassman.com. This is a free to join website, centered around Yuma and there are some friendly and knowledgeable people who log in there. Another is www.azbasszone.com but it is a whole state/nationwide forum, some good people and a few real characters there. It is also free. Bass or Bass will get try to get you onto the www.outdoorfishing.com forum, this is another good forum although more nationwide, a fair # of NAFC members there.

Good searching--Allen

I was just wondering how other Washington anglers feel about the Northerns in the Pend Orellie?
I am undecided.
On one hand they are fun to catch and not to bad to eat.
On the other hand, how would we keep them out of the Columbia?
What would there impact be on the Columbia?

Thanks for your time.

Fishing spots

Hey folks,
While I enjoy fishing the local lakes and inland sound, I'd like to know where to go for some river fishing. I've made a couple trips to fish with JustDave in Oregon but, I'd like to find somewhere closer. Even the trips I've made to Forks are a bit far from Kitsap County where I Live. No, I don't need to know your 'secret' fishing holes but, I'm hoping for some direction here. Any help? Maybe we could meet up for a day? I've also been to Mt Vernon to fish w/ Lowwater but hey, there MUST be some other places I could get on rivers. Thanks!
Eastside Walleye 'guide'?

How about it guys, (or gals, I'm not particular)- who might be willing to show me the ropes on how to fish for walleye? I don't know if this is the right time of year (the best) but given a couple three weeks notice I can probably meet nearly anywhere in Eastern Washington. I work four tens so I have Fridays off. I live on the Kitsap Peninsula, have a boat (but maybe not the right kind) and a fair amount of gear. I'd need to know what is recommended to bring so I can be prepared but I'd be willing to help out with gas or whatever to share the load. Get back to me and we can do P/M's or e-mails to work out details. Thanks!
Where are the Largemouth in WA?!

I've been stationed in Wa. for 3 years and have fished for all kinds of different species and still have not caught one largemouth! If any one knows some good lakes or ponds and what to use, let's talk about it because bass here are different than the rest of the country and don't fall for many tricks.

Anyone fish Hog Canyon ( or Hog Lake) or Fourth of July Lake for trout in the winter?

I was cruising the WDFW website last night and it looks like there are a few lakes open to winter trout, these were the closest to me so I figured I might give them a shot this weekend or next. Any advice for these lakes?

Weekend Report

I took a trip to Lake Whatcom in Bellingham with a guy that has never fished for smallmouth before. Got to the launch at 5am had a little smoke on the water and no wind. Headed to the south end and rigged up with a lipless crank bait. On my third cast hooked a nice 2 pounder. then it got real good. Once we found an area they were in, we ended up with 41 smallies in the 1 to 2 # class, and a few toutching 3lbs. I let my friend drive my Triton and run the front end. He said he felt like a king running the boat I got a kick out of that.

Went back on Saturday with my wife. Got to the launch around the same time only to discover the ramp was closed, so I headed to the sount end to launch. At first the fishing was slow until the sun came out and we got 15 fish. My biggest was 2.5 lbs and then my wife got a 3.21 lb'er she just had to out fish me. Then the wind kicked up and had to find water out of the wind to fish.

I had the neatest thing happen to me. We were in an area protected from the wind and I throw my carnkbait up next to a tree and got a good hit I set the hook and the fish started comming towards the boat and I saw it was a small trout. All of a sudden 5 big smallies rushed out to get the trout and the biggest one got there first and grabbed at the trout, but it only had one hook in it and when it hit the trout the second hook grabbed it and I landed both fish. I had never had enything that happen before it was neat. So in 2 days we got 56 smallies. The Bite Is On.

Harry

Trophy Life Member USN Retired 1969-1989 NW Bass Pro
