Ice Fishing Ruined

Up here in CT we have had lots of snow.A real lot. It started on my yearly january ice fishing vacation and hasnt stopped. I geuss you can still fish if you dont mind shoveling for a few hours then standing in 20 inches of water all day.All that weight on the ice makes me a little nervous also.Thank God April is around the corner.

I caught a Piranha at Lake Mead in Nevada

                                                  Piranha at Lake Mead Nevada.
I was at Lake Mead N.V. fishing at Hemingway Harbor dock at 10-12-2010 around 9:30pm. I was fishing like normal and got a big hit I grabbed my pole and started to real it in, it fought pretty good at first then just came right in to the dock. I was grabbing the fish to attempt to get the hook out thinking it was a big blue gill. I put my fingers in its mouth to get the hook out and it snapped shut on my finger I pulled my fingers free and notice I had a little cut. I viewed the fish again and noticed it had teeth. I called the ranger station to tell them I got a fish that has teeth and assuming it was a piranha. The ranger came out to identify the fish and he said it looks like a piranha but he had to be sure he took pictures and went to the truck to talk to the people at he ranger station and he came back with a picture on his phone to compare and the result was it was the same looking fish he had on his phone, witch was indeed a piranha. The ranger took the fish for testing to see what it was, he took all of my info down and before he left he told me there not going to release the info to the public because of the movie (The Piranha). I finished fishing and went home to Pahrump, N.V. The next day we contacted the Fox 5 news by email and they said they had to investigate. After several days they emailed us again saying they are waiting for the report back from fish and game and she verified my story from the ranger.Again a couple of days they emailed us again saying the report is back and they said it was a (Red Bellied Pacu) family of the piranha that only eats vegitation then how come I caught it on a worm and it has alot of sharp teeth and a snapping jaw . The investigator told us they are not going to release it to the public not in less if something else comes up.I looked up red bellied pacu and it does not look nothing like the fish I caught. Its a PIRANHA they dont want to release it to the public. If I caught one some one else will to, its a shame people have to dump there dangerous pets into the public waters. Check my story out with the ranger station and fox 5 news they will verify. THANKS FOR PROTECTING ARE WELL BEING RIGHT YA........

I am an active duty Soldier on FT Bragg, NC and I just wanted to bring this great organization to light. I have fished with these guys and all the soldiers really appreciate tha opportunity to get out in the water and take a deep breath of fresh air and chance to wind down for a day and fish.
I wanted to say Thank to the Anglers that put this on and to all the Volunteers!
