 | Larry Nice prize there, BooF! a year ago | | BooFThanks. We went out again last weekend but to sixtown pond this time. Same deal only 4 inches of ice in the one bay so we were kinda limited on where we could go. Ended up bringing in 5.34lb bass. Will post that pic later.

 | Larry That's great news, BooF! We must be making some ice down here by now. Hopefully, the warming forecast doesn't mean slush! Enjoy the pike! a year ago | | |

BooFWhere you fish for your steelhead? Everywhere I try to go seems to be well over crowded and a turn off.
LarryOswego River. The entire fishery is visible from Lake Ontario due to the power house dam. but it's a wide river, so there is tons of places to fish. The salmon run brings a million fisherman, and the dreaded shoulder to shoulder fishing most folks dislike, but from November on, the "crowds" are usually limited to around 10 fisherman per side of the river, and a few in dory boats. You can fish from a concrete sidewalk on the west, or wade from the east side.
pikebassholeI got a guy with a drift boat it takes a litle cash but u get to all the spots no one else in ur way pretty fun too
bgross3i would like to steel head fish but i dont no if i have the right eqipment...please help!
pikebassholeAll steelies I have caught came on a NOODLE rod verry long (like 9 foot even ten foot) all that backbone allows use of the lighter line we use those for everything except backtrolling,
LarryB, you can spend a ton of cash on specialized equipment if you like, but I've been doing it quite successfully for a long time with a 6.5 foot spinning rig and 8 pound test. Even the salmon can be caught on this rig, as long as it has a reliable drag, and the crowds are limited. Unfortunately, sometimes people get tired of waiting for you to play a fish, and will cut your line, if they think you are taking too long. This is not a problem after the salmon run ends.
bgross3It turns out i have the right eqipment but what should i use for bait?

 | BooF Has anybody ice fished Red Lake or Indian Lake? I'm sure one of those will be my first stop of the ice fishing season and would like to exchange any "special" info on hot spots. We had some pretty good luck at Red Lake last year and hope it will carry over. a year ago | | |

 | jvsabadish Hi all, just back from two weeks in Canada and a week in TN. Caught some nice rainbows in TN. Steelhead season was great before I left and the Salmon River has good water right now. Looking forward to float fishing for steelhead Sunday. There has been a good number of nice (3-9 lb.) brown trout mixed in. Talk to you Monday and let you know how I did. a year ago | | BooFGood Luck. I love trout fishing.
