  • josterhout Been fishing Lake Halice in Urbandale. Mostly Blue Gill and Sun Fish. I did pull out one little Large Mouth. Measured just under 15" and only weighed about 2lbs. Looking for a new spot. This lake is far too mossy and green. They tried using grass carp to clean it out, but some moron(s) pulled them all out and left them on the bank.

  • viking54 hit the iowa river in marshalltown yesterday. Caught 2 2lbs catfish and my buddy caught 3. River had a lot of ice jams but enough open area's to fish. no walleye though waters still a little cold for that but another 10 degree and they should start moving. The river actually had a lot of water in it so the spring fishing should be good

    • viking54as you can see there's not many who pay attention in the winter and of course with the water being as low as it has been hasn't helped much either. I'm from Newton (central Iowa) and also like to exchange tips and storie's. I live about 15 miles from RED ROCK and spend a lot of time fishing the rivers here, mostly for walleye. I know you must be fishing the mississippi since you'r so close. would like to know more about fishing that river anyway welcome to the site

    • widenhard01ive noticed not many pay attention in the winter. i lie catching walleyes but not very good at them but getting better. i fish for just about anythig it just depends on what starts hitting me first . i did hit a trophy eye spring of lasthis year he was a little over 18 inches he grabbed my crank bait while i was bass fishing in a real shallow snaggy area in sabula i can only fish the spot from the bank co i was bringing my bait back to me infront of a bush just off the bank and he gradded i got it in mesured it and then let it go
