  • corykennedy1992 Hey guys went to a very large pond and caught about three bass off a zoom horny toad and missed a couple off of a spro bronzeye frog. Decided to throw out a ole zara spook and within two zigzags WAM! He missed within a split second WAAAMMM!! I got him. Very epic haha. I absolutely love topwater fishing for bass. Nothing better.

    • corykennedy1992Have you ever used the storm sunfish swimbait? Also what do you usually throw if it has rained and the water has gotten muddy or murky?
      9:23 PM June 16
    • zayresi have tried a couple of the storm swimbaits my favorite is the kickin slab. stained water i go for a chatterbait with gold blade and if im fishing for 18 inch and bigger fish ill put a boottail swimbait on it

  • topwater fishing Ok I have had a couple days with the baits I had to test this is a review on the Culprit Topwater Shad. This bait is 3 and 1/2 inch and I believe its 3/8 oz. it’s a frog style bait meant to mimic a dying or hurt baitfish. At first I wasn’t having much luck with the bait fishing it around the shallows off of weed lines ect. Places you would usually fish a frog. Then I though to try something a little different, fishing it where I would usually fish a swim bait points, creek channels off shore structure and that kind of area. Fish were not really smacking it like a frog but kind of swirling on the bait. Hook set ratio was fairly well, yesterday I think I was 4 for 6 and today 3 for 3.Seemed to me that a longer pause from strike to hook set was a lot more important than with most frog and was a little less weed less around the weeds (didn’t perform as well in the weeds then open water any way) the hook is plenty strong and has a pretty good gap on it. The finish on the bait has sort of a honeycomb design overtop of the whole bait giving it a hint of shine resembling scales. As far as retrieve goes I found an erratic slow twitch works best I found the best presentation for me was to reel very slowly basically just tighten up the slack if you give it a good twitch it will kind of go under water if you hit it again it will jump out of the water that’s perfect. Retrieve is somewhat similar to walking the dog but not quite the same. Overall I would recommend this bait because just fishing with it is fun and gives the fish something else to see as it is one of the only baits like it. I give this bait 7 out of 10.

  • corykennedy1992 I absolutely LOVE topwater fishing. I usually use jointed Rapala's with a slight twitch. Bass Love this presentation!!! I have been wanting to get into frog fishing but what are the best setups for this? Also what are the best type frog to use? Thanks

    • zayresthanks for joining the group.what i like to use when frog fishing is a 7 ft med heavy rod some people go bigger but i dont see it making much of a diffrence with a braided line i use 50 lb power pro but any braid would be better then mono because it slices its way through the weeds and low strech. as far as frog go the most realistic frogs are for sure the hollow belly frogs my favorites are the booyha pad crasher, bass pro kermey frog and the live target hollow body frog.i have caught the most and biggest on the pad crasher by far. another important thing is to match the frogs where your fishing mostly bull frogs so bulkier white/yellow belly frogs work best.

    • zayreslive target frog it is more important to have a longer stiffer rod because the hooks are a bit smaller

    • corykennedy1992right now i use a abu garcia silver max
      11:20 AM May 23
    • zayressilver max would be good i use bass pro tourney pro gear ratio 6.3 to 1
