  • Saltwater Fishing Used asked for it, you got it -- more saltwaterspecies coverage! Here's a snook-fishin' article from my new Florida fishing buddy, Capt. Tyler Kapela at "Hit and Run" Fishing Charters. Read the article on North American Fishing Club's website here: http://www.fishingclub.com/magazine...ookin-time

  • dhawthorne any ideas for turning a live fish into shark bait? on a charter boat i was on i was told they butterfly the tail, but i was busy catching other fish and didnt watch. ive caught only 3 sharks before. one was on a hunk of squid, the next on a spanish sardine that was frozen, and the last was a huuuge nurse shark on a 10" yellowtail snapper. any ideas?

    • charper1dhawthorne, when a shark is hungry, he will it the bait. Dont really have to do anything to the bait. Fish seem to give off distress signals (which makes sense because he has a hook thru him) and that also attracts predatory fish, including sharks

    • ctanhello guys... new here... can anybody help me to find a good fishing area in New Jersey? At this point I can afford those party boats just shore fishing. I tried Belmar where the bridge is and the Highlands.. no luck. I asked some friends who have success and always told me its just there around the area but no exact spot. They said they run with the fish... which I dont understand what they meant. Thanks.

    • ctanoops.. i mean I "can't" afford to go with party boats.

    • whopperI looked up Belmar, Dude you have it made . You can try surf casting for Blues, Stripers etc- Follow birds and check out the beaches . The Public Braches may open up for fishing late afternoon to early evening. If you are not set up for surf casting that nice inlet running between Belmar and Avon-by- the -Sea NICE. Try from Ocean Avenue back to River road especially during running tide. You should be able to get all sorts of nice fish depending on season and bait. Now you should get Blues, Weak, Stripers,Sea Bass, Fluke (summer Flounder) Porgie etc. That River road Park looks nice. Also check out Skiff and Boat rentals and fish around the Bay. Finally save up the cash and go on a Party Boat ever once and a while. As it really gets hot during the summer Night time Blue Fishing is the Ticket. Fresh Caught Salt water fish YUM !!! I am a former Long Island NY Fisherman. I will be visiting LI soon to stock up my freezer. Enjoy !!

    • myoung9When fishing on the flats in the tampa bay. I use a 10" steel leader , Black or silver depending on the time of year, with a #3 long shank hook. I tail hook a shrimp so it is weedless. The tail hook makes it look more real. Remember shrip do not swim head 1st. they swim tail 1st. I almost always get a Big red or a trout with this set up.
