 | capnklumpp Two friends from work went yesterday at noon, but I haven't heard how they did yet. I could have been "sick" too - I have GOT to get better friends! LOL about 2 months ago | | |

 | jwartgow Hopefully the weather improves...this wind has got to go with this weather, but like you say...it's GOT to get better. The first day out was a skunker, but the boys had fun. Haven't been out since as the weather has been crummy. Hopefully going this week, maybe Friday? We'll see about 50-50 at this point. about 2 months ago | | |

 | capnklumpp Thanks for the advice. The weather here in SE Michigan (mid - 20's, snow and a lot of wind) most likely slowed down the river run once again... tomorrow is the first day of Spring, so it's GOT to get better, right? about 3 months ago | | |

 | capnklumpp Hi guys, I didn't realize there was a "Maumee River Fishing" Group. I just posted in the Michigan and Ohio forums, asking if anyone had been to the Maumee yet. I've never fished it for the Spring run, but might this year - any advice? about 3 months ago | | jwartgowHi, I'll be going this weekend so I'll let you know how my boys and I do. I don't expect too much action because it's still early based on the colder weather. The good thing is there should also be some elbow room. During the run when it's hot and heavy people are usually crowded to the point of about 8-10 ft away from one another. Most guys have good intentions, but there can be a few asses. I usually go to Fort Meigs, Bluegrass Island, Towpath, and Side Cut Metro Park. I use 10# line and throw floating jigs with 1-3 ft of leader up to an egg sinker. This keeps the jig off the bottom a little bit. Color is whatever is working, usually start w/chartruese, white, pink and go from there. Be prepared to have alot of snags. To look at the River update go to Maumee Tackle's online page, they update it DAILY and have good advice. When wading be sure to use a guide stick or the like and go slow, I've seen a few guys get overzealous and get toppled over by the strong current. It took me a couple years to get used to it when I started because I'm from northern Wisconsin and never experienced anything like this, but it can be quite fun. Oh btw, follow the regulations to a tee, especially concerning snagging the 'eyes as the ODNR are always looking even when you don't see them.
