  • Scratch85 jpicou, how was the fishing tournament at Shakamk? I went to Shakamak late Sunday morning. The catching was slow but I did end up with one that I measured at 18 1/4".
    • jpicouTypical shakamak i caught a few,but for that place you catch tons of small ones, and every so often you catch one thats over fifteen. I had to throw most mine back cause of that slot limit they have, frustrating! Whats even worse i had a U.S.A. Bassin tournament at bass lake sat. morning caught 17 and not a one i could weigh in. I had a bad weekend tournament fishing but...at least i did catch something i guess could have been worse. I fished the Kickapoo lake.
      9:35 AM July 11
    • Scratch85At least you were catching fish! For what it's worth, the bigger one I caught was in about 10" of water up against the bank, under a root wad, on the shady east side of a point. I also fished Kickapoo.
      9:47 AM July 11
    • Scratch85To clarify, I mean the east side of the lake, not the point itself.
      9:49 AM July 11
    • jpicouI got a tourney there again coming up so i was thinking bout going there again 2day an seeing if i could figure something out. I struggle there more than anywhere else. awful damnm hot tho! Was that your first time there?
      9:52 AM July 11
    • Scratch85That was my first time there. I couldn't sleep Sunday morning and just decided to go fishing. I had been thinking about Shakamak and the clear water thing since you had mentioned it. Seemed like a good chance to see what the conditions were. I didn't arrive until about 9:00am local time and was gone by noon. Pretty hot.

I would think evening would be very hard to fish there. When the sun hits that lake surely all the fish go hide and stay hidden until dusk.
      10:07 AM July 11
    • jpicouI dont think they ever come out there! lol. However im not a big crappie fisher ,but my friend is we went there rite before they started to spawn an just absolutely tore it up. most fish i hadever caught in one day!
