 | EireFury I am a Utah member who just started fishing in Fall of 2011. I do a lot of fishing in local ponds, reservoirs and some lake fishing as well. My husband and I are lucky to have some experienced fishermen for friends to help us out with many of the newbie queries that come up. If you are looking for hints and tips to help get you started, here are some ideas to consider:
1) Walmart has some pretty good dvds on the basics of fishing. Check their sporting goods section. Or check out any sporting goods store.
2) When you go fishing, question your fellow fishermen. Most are, usually, more than happy to help out a newbie.
3) Good times to go fishing are during the time of the new and full moon, on an overcast day, on a rday when there is light rain.
Hope this helps :) a year ago | | |

 | countryliving I've been fresh fishing for a while now, going to lakes here in N E PA. I've done pretty good with the trout, but haven't had a lot of luck with bass. I've read books, but get confused on terminology any hints on how to figure out the difference in crank baits, jigs, etc ? Sure could use some help!!!! thanks about 2 years ago | | EireFuryChech out takemefishin.com. They have some helpful pages. Also check out your local DWR (Division of Wildlife Resources). Whoever publishes your local fishing guide - a freebie handbook you can find in the sporting goods section of Walmart or any sporting goods store. Good luck & happy fishin'.

Welcome ckoecke about 2 years ago ckoeckeHello everyone. I am kinda new but not an expert. Always looking for any tip 2 better my fishing skills. I have tried fishing crank baits, jigs, buzzbaitsand topwaters. Never caught anything on them. Plastics is all I have luck with. I don't know how 2 find bait fish or just fish. I know 2 look 4 logs and lilly pads and down trees but have no idea if fish r even there. R fish by logs with turtles and ducks on them or not? I've chaged my retrievs up for days @a time with all my lures and usually come home skunked. I have a fishfinder. But only shows what's under ny boat. Need lots of help. Any suggestions will b appreciated. I usually fish the local river but try some small lakes every couple weeks. Thanks catchem big.
ralbrightsomething that worked for me with buzzbaits is to slow your retrieve down and fish them like a foot or so under the surface.it has been working for me.i catch most of my bait fish in the shallows with rocky bottoms i guess the rocks give them a saftey net they dont have in open water.i hope this is helpfull
ckoeckeI haven't tried a buzz bait yet at least not below the water. Good tip I will try it this weekend. Thanks.
