It seems alot of NAFC members don't really too care much for the "book club". The monthly book offer. I personally could go either way...I started it, i'm up to like 13 books, maybe more...who knows? lol So here's my point to this discussion...Why won't the club start a monthly lure offer?? You know something like a lure of the month club??? I think getting a new lure each month is a little bit more exciting and you can actually use it fishing. I'm talking name brand lures eg: Strike King, Bomber, Booyah, Z-man, Storm, etc, etc,; Spinner baits, crank baits, swim baits, jigs...etc, etc, Quality lures...Not cheap plastic worms that sometimes come free with a book. Oh, and here's a thought...Maybe mix it up with some saltwater lures too...There is saltwater in North America...right?? It seems the NAFC should have some kind of industry connections, sponsers, etc, etc, where they can make this happen. The books are nice, but over priced and out dated. Alot of members opt out of that part of the club. A new lure is more exciting and alot cheaper...most of the time..NAFC book is 26 dollars w/ shipping...A new high end lure is at most 8-12 dollars...and should be cheaper to ship because it's lighter. Something to think about NAFC. |

My luck being here in Kansas they would send me a salt water lure and then I would have to go out and buy a box of morton salt and sprinkle in the lake to use the lure. lol Or ship it back at my expence. |

great idea. how about making it so you can sign up for different categories such as Bass lure of the month or trout lure of the month or fly of the month. you get the idea. that way EAGLE EYE won't have to go out and purchase a whole dump truck of salt. Brian |

Not enough profit in it for the club. You can sell a book that cost you $5 to produce for $26. I sure don't want to pay $7 for a lure (plus S&H) and not be able to choose color, etc. Might be a good way for beginners to build a tackle box though. Tom |

I appreciate all the brainstorming, fellas. I get a some opportunities to tell the Club VIPs what the members have suggested to help improve the club, so I will keep your suggestions in mind. -- Web Guy Greg |

The club makes a ton of profit from the TV show with sponsers etc, etc, etc...Look at how well that show is produced...Thats pretty good TV for a fishing club. And I hear what your saying Pegsguy, I'm just suggesting something different...other than books or dvd's. If the club stuck to basic lure colors, ie: white, chartruse, silver, pumpkin, color that matches most hatches...lol, that would satisfy most people. Fisherman, hunters, people that live the outdoor lifestyle are "hands-on" people. As for beginners, you can read a book all day and night and watch a dvd til your eyes hurt, but the only way to "see" how that spinnerbait or crank bait works is to get out there and do it. I know i'm pretty pickey when it comes to my lures and baits myself...but with basic color patterns like I just mentioned, you can't go wrong. Oh and btw...95% of my fishing is in saltwater (I own my own boat and fish at least 3 days aweek)...I fish in NY. It's called the NY Bight. We have just about every inshore speices of fish in the North East. Maybe one day the club will suprise me with a saltwater book...lol |

I have been a life member since 2007, and have never regretted it. However after sitting for a few hours and going over some of the forum posts this morning!!!! Makes me wonder why some folks join?? I recently wrote a letter to Mr. Penaz, regarding unsolicited mailings. (To no response) However, my idea was instead of mailing members things they do not want. And forcing them to mail it back or pay for it. Why not put a new header on the web site entitled "Store" and let members actually purchase the hats, shirts, books, DVD s, etc. I like the club and would never consider canceling my life membership just for the people I have met, and the knowledge gained from the web site, and magazine. This is not a rant, just a post trying to make our club a bit better for all of us. Imagine how many more members NAFC could gather, if we all wore our club T-shirts on our fishing trips. |

There is/was a club store but it keeps getting harder to find. Unfortunatly, the only items tat seem to be available are some t-shirts and other apparel. I could never understand why the club has not made the books and videos available for purchase by title rather than signing up for a subscription type of thing. |

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all be a lot happier! These ideas sound good but they will never happen! Sorry to say! |

Captain Quantum is right...all of our ideas sound good, but will never happen. To us members, this may seem like a club, with access to the website, as crappy as it is, a free magazine that only does articles on Bass fishing and truck ads, and a few other things, but to the higher ups in the NAFC, this is a business. It's a telemarketing business. Do you know how much the club would loose in revenue if they decided to only sell the books and dvd's in the club store? By sending each member a book or dvd wether they want it or not, they still have to pay for it or send it back. 90% of the time they're going to pay for it. Where I live, it's a pain in the ass to stand in line at the post office to try to return a book, so I end up paying for it. They got me...lol I contacted the club if they have anthing on saltwater (books or dvd's). They said they do. They mailed me a list of what they have...Nothing on the list was close to saltwater...It was all of there freshwater title books. I guess they either don't have anything about saltwater fishing or their customer service doesn't know the difference. |

I just became a member and did notice that it cost me $3.26 to mail back the book, or I would have had to pay over $29. debating on whether or not to become a lifetime member. thoughts? I like the lure idea. |

thoughts on life membership . only you can decide if it is rite for you . in my opinion if you fish it's is a no brainier . think of it as a life time investment . it opens door of opportunity to you . you may win a contest , but mostly it puts you in direct contact with other fishermen and women. The more friends you make the more opportunities you will have. free guided trips free place to stay when out of town perhaps a free meal and use of boat ,bait tackle . you can never make to many friends. and each friend you make opens the door for more opportunity. after you don't buy the books or you tell them to stop sending them they will stop sending them . the books are nice but one can find used ones else where for cheaper sometimes. |

Good answer rod tosser. mmmelancon- Next time do not open the box just mark return to sender. No charge for you to send back unopened mail. |
