I think the club dont like to send out the stuff they say they will.  They are prompt to send out the stuff they want you to pay for but you get your dues for trophy life paid off and after 10 months you still havent received the free rod they promised you.  WTF NAFC?  Where is my fishing rod, I have asked several times nicely and been told "were sorry we will send it out now" or "they are ordered and we will ship them out next month" so what is it now?  whats the new excuse?

Anything the club has promised you, they WILL deliver...but if you've been paid in full for 10 months and not received your rod...that's just unacceptable. I have seen these rods on backorder(Remember, this is a custom rod with your name painted on it,not some cheap sticker. They actually apply your name, then the clear finish), but 10 months is a bit much. I would send a PM to the NAFC Social Media Editor...alias "Web Guy Greg". He has a profile page here just like all the rest of us. He would get you results if you contacted him.

Most likely it's on back order...Just imagine how many new people have joined the club and became Lifers since the inception with Facebook. I agree with Mo, 10 months is a long time, but if they have to fill thousands of orders, 10 months for a custom rod might sound about right.

kclance: Sorry you have not received your custom rod yet. Email me your club # and contact info at ghuff@namginc.com and I will have a colleague in Member Services contact you. -- web Guy Greg

P.S. Thanks for the vote of confidence, mo65!

My Reel! Funny thing, my Shimano Reel the club promised me came yesterday! I had no idea it would be arriving and I didn't know whether to open the box or just write RETURN TO SENDER on it and send it back! Glad I opened it! This things nice!

Great news klance, and CQ, they say you get the reel after making half of your life payments, the rod after paying in full. Ain't that thing a peach? I have had higher end Shimano's that weren't as smooth. I have fished all summer with mine and it still feels as good as the day I took it out of the box! Never was a huge Shimano fan...but I rarely head for the lake without my life member combo.

A word of warning. Two or three years back there was a rash of broken member rods. Many members were frustrated in trying to resolve this through the club. The good news is that some of the affected members were able to obtain a replacement top section from Shimano by dealing with shimano direct. Something to keep in mind should anyone have this problem.

Although I was not here at the time, my colleagues report that the frustration arose due to the replacement parts being on back order from the manufacturer -- something the Club cannot control. In the past year, I've handled a few requests for replacement rod tips and, while it DID take several months for replacement parts to arrive (due to the manufacturer's timetable, not the Club's), all members with rod-replacement issues that worked through me got their replacements. My email is ghuff@namginc.com, so don't hesitate to contact me if you have a Life Member rod issue. -- Web Guy Greg

This is good to know Greg...I'd be lost without that life member combo...it really has become part of my everyday tackle. I hear a lot of the older members say they don't fish with theirs. Bet they would if they had this latest one you're giving us now! So much for The Good Ol' Days!

I use mine all the time never had a problem with it.
As for durability of the rod caught a 10 ft alligator on it not by choice snapped the line rod is still good as new.
