I recently got mail announcing that I was selected for a special life membership---I see a lot of people are very unhappy with this club. Outside of my page and signing up for clubs, what else happens??? I think I'll quit this.

The majority of unhappy members seem to be people who have unreasonable expectations about the field test program. The club makes it sound like an unending stream of test items will start arriving in a member's mailbox the day they join. This is not the reality, leading to the disappointment. However, for a person looking to learn to be a better fisherman and associate with like-minded individuals, it makes an awful lot of sense. The magazine is always worth a read, and used properly these forums are a gold mine of information. The biggest disappointment for me has been in the chat room. It never worked well and a few weeks back became unusable. It has since been partially repaired, but most of the long time contributors have moved on and are unlikely to return. Your call, it is your money but I have always been glad I joined.

Basically, I really had no serious expectations about this club. I figured they were all show when I got an invitation to become a life member and that I was especially selected. What a load of crap. I've got quite a bit of land in south Florida that I would like to sell to one especially selected member.

Me, I became a life member so I woildn't have to bother keeeping my subscription up, anything beyond that I considered a bonus. I have recieved a few things to test, not many but a few and the rod and reel I received are very nice.

im with you AZAllen. I believe the magazine alone has been worth the price of lifetime membership. I have anjoyed them for many years and always go back through old issues to see what else grabs my attention. I have had a few test items and that is just a bonus on top of all else. Just got a bomber long A jointed lure. the forum has been great and I know i can always find answers to my questions here.

I joined for the tips and tricks of fishing. i tell you what it has helped improve my fishing game. the magazine i agree is always worth the read there is so much information in them. also enjoy the forums on here. you can ask a question and pretty much get a response within the hour. i think being apart of north american fishing club is a smart choice. it is very informative not to mention you get a chance to test out some products. sure they do not come rolling in but what i have tested so far i have really liked and enjoyed. so being a memeber or a life member is worth it to me.

definitely agree about the magazine. i was wondering though, do they send you a e-mail for you to accept the field test, or do they just send it strait?

I need some advice about the life membership. I'm not a spring chicken I have some years on me. The life membership is $299.00 that amount would cover membership for almost 25 years. I understand I will receive a rod, reel, and case, but at my age is there any value there. I have been a member for only a few months, and so far I have been well pleased with the club. The only thing I have received that I felt was not worth much was the fish hooks, but then I have a few hooks I really like and don't change much. Everything else has been a good quality product. I"m going to remain a member just not sure if the life membership is for me? KEEP ON FISHING
