Not as of yet. I just got done building a St. Croix Avid 9' 6wt that I plan on using for bass and maybe an occasional carp. I'm new to fly fishing, so it should be interesting to say the least <!--graemlin::D--> <!--graemlin::cool:--> BTW: HBA, have you seen this site?: Carp America |

I don't want to hear from the Pro's, I would rather hear tips and tricks from members. Who I feel would be a lot more honest and give poeple some good advice. if anyone has a question about the waters in PA drop me a line. As far as the Ads go. I agree with there are way to many. I'd like to see them put them all on the same pages, and keep them seperated. As for the Smokes and Snuff... I smoke and Chew already, but would rather our young people are not made think it's "cool" or OK...

nafc mag. has always been a bi-monthly rag. and in the old days we had articals by al linder, doug stang, even the babe winkle contributed every now and again. there were more contributers from all the diferent mags. out there like dr. bass himself, doug hannana and others like him. you see the old days the pros wrote the articals, not having the articals writen about them. some of the changes have been for the better. but most are more for the publication to make more money for them selves not for making a better mag.. i can name a few mag. that have went down the same road, some were able to hold onto some of the traditional writings such as in-fisherman or fishing facts. they changed in the ads. department but tried to keep the same type of info coming out. others are lost for ever such as greys journal, unless you know a library that have them in there archiveys. then there are those mags. that i have quit reading because they have forgotten about us sportsman, such as outdoor life, field and stream and a couple more like them. i said my 2 cents take it for what it is worth, chew on it a bit and go from there. good luck guys and take care mr bill life member nahc, nafc, nra/ila life scriber in-fisherman mag. rapala field tester member of Eaton Rapids Sportsman Club |

changes happen because eithere we demand it or the ads. people do. the companys that run these mags. now days don't care about what we want, they only think of the bottom dollar. so if you want to see things happen in the mag. you must hit them hard, the question is though is were.
typing these last 2 post has made me think about a couple of things. so i am going to start a new post to ask a couple of questions and i hope it might shed some light on all our questions.

i don't mind to hear were the best chance to get a state record or maybe a world record. but what are the chances of any one of us getting a state record let alone a world record.
in my 50 yrs. of fishing i have come close or did catch a record, but i really didn't/don't care. the one record i do now i could of had even if it would have been for a month or so. i caught a king salmon in late july the very first year the state of michigan had a mature salmon run in our rivers. this fish was 52 lbs, i was only 14 at the time. fishing the little manistee river for browns on a weekend canoe trip with my boyscout troop.
my last really nice size fish i caught was just two yrs. ago. i caught an 18lb. northern pike.
as i said before, i just want some of you to think about what we have missed and were we are haeded. go ahead and speak your mind. i do fell sorry for the younger kids because they have no idea what has already been missed and also what we have had to go through to get were we are today. the good and the bad.

My Dad took me fishing the first time when I was in third grade. I caught a bunch of tiny sunfish and had a blast! The thing I find about most mags is they always want you to use the newest tech. The pros I can understand 'cause that's how they pay the bills, but if see arig I'd like to use, the artical is like, use flurocarbon for this and braid for that, and the lengths and weights all have to be precise. Well, my Dad didn't fish that way, and not my Grandpa either. I use various weights of mono for everything and do just fine. Of course, when I started out mono and glass rods were the newest best thing. So I guess things aways change. GL |

The pros make their living at fishing I fish because I enjoy it and find it relaxing maybe the mag can get back to the more peaceful times of fishing. Jack |

Just a tip from Kansas. We have a lot of cottonwood trees here, in the right time of year the carp suck the seeds off the surface. You can actually buy Cottonwood flies. It's a real hoot. GOOD FISHING GL |

let us know what you like to do and what you would like to try. we have a lot of young people here that are wanting to know things and we have people here that can help with any questions you might have.
you might find us acting crazy every now and then [some more than others] but we are here to have fun and to see what we can do to either learn or help each other out.

The best advice I can give on begining fishing is listen, ask and then try. What works for me might not work for you. What type of fishing are you trying? You can pick my brain what's left of it. Good luck and keep a tight line |

There's nothing wrong with being crazy sometimes, I've been known for that a time or two. <!--graemlin::)-->
Unfortunately, this year I have not been fishing all too often. The dreaded word work, drowns some free time. I was in Spirit lake, IA in the beginning of this month, I figured no better time to learn then to buy a bunch of things I've never used and make them work. So on my way back to Illinois, I ended up in Berkley's fishing store (since I couldn't tour the "Pure fishing" factory across the street <!--graemlin::D-->), picked up some beetle spins, jig head hooks, small bladedancers, a shallow frenzy diver, a few poppers, and plastic worm bait.
This will add to my little collection of plastic lures, bobbers, steel leaders, swivels and the handy pliers and pocket knife in my tackle box.
I can't really say what I like to fish for, right now its more like anything I can catch. In the last year or two I have caught my share of small pan fish, bluegill, perch, catfish...oh catfish...thats my most popular catch with a leech.
hrm....now well.. besides my life story, I can be chatty on a subject I like.

I am, by no means, an expert, but I have built a few rods and would love to do an article on this. |

Anytime we put together a "Fishing Meet", we give them free advertising and promotion. So, for all we do, we would like a page that covers members meets and our local fishing reports, tips and more.... <!--graemlin::cool:--> |
