Nothing better then a Chevy or GMC truck I should know I have my GMC Extended Cab Sierra 5.7 L 350 CU 4x4 and even though it is Fuel Injected and kept tuned up it still only gets 16 MPG. So the article on Hybrid Muscle makes me want to go get a newer Chevy or GMC with Hybrid! BUT THERE IS ONE PROBLEM ALL THE ARTICLES AND ALL THE COMERCIALS TELL WHAT THE MPG IS BUT WHAT WILL IT COST ME FOR ELECTRICITY? DON'T I HAVE TO PLUG IT IN AND RECHARGE IT? HOW OFTEN? HOW MUCH WILL THIS RUN UP MY LIGHT BILL? ANOTHER THING THAT BOTHERS ME IF WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH ELECTRICITY NOW TO RUN THE COUNTRY THEN WHERE WILL WE GET THE ELECTRICITY TO PLUG IN ALL THE HYBRID VEHICLES? WHY ARE THESE LITTLE TIDBITS LEFT OUT? GREAT ARTICLE BUT LETS HAVE ANOTHER WITH THE ANSWERS! After all when I save money at the gas pump I can do more fishing at least I hope so. I don't want to give to the Electric Company. Hope to get good answers soon cause in Upsate NY the St. Lawrence is going down fast. And I want get there before the fish leave. Yes, that is another story.

The trucks you are refering to do not require a recharge from an outside power source, the batteries are recharged by the vehicle engine. I have heard that these vehicles are not the best choice if you are towing a trailer. I don't know about the current models, but the early units did not have a reverse gear in the transmission and depended on the electric motor to back up. Fine until you try and back a heavy boat or camper uphill!

The true plug-in vehicles that are just now making it to market in significant numbers are really only suitable for short range driving. The amount of electricity required to recharge these vehicles shouldn't be a problem in most areas, the recharging will be mostly done at night during off-peak times. Tom
