I have been testing products for the club for a number of years and always, after finishing the test, re-applied for additional products. In the past the longest I've had to wait was maybe 6 months. However, after I finished the last product test, and filling out the questionaire, I immediately filled out the form for a new test product. Long story short, that has been right about a year now. When, if at all, can I expect new products to test?
It has always been a thrill to test products which are new and even not on the broad market at the time. With that being said, I am anxiously awaiting a package in the mail and am eager to put the items to work. But how can I if the club doesn't send me anything? And by the way, what do I have to do to get the high-end products for a change? The most valuable item was a pair of sunglasses ($100), which I couldn't even use due to me wearing presciption glasses. Didn't make sense guys.
An answer in this regard would be greatly appreciated! |

Sounds like you already have had more than your share of test products. Never ceases to amaze me how much of these forums are attributed to someone who has not got something to test, lately. Greatest lesson I ever learned about fishing is patience. I do not know how much patience costs but sounds like to me some NAFC members could use a little more. Uncle Tom |

| I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |

basbandit that is good news! I have sent out plenty of petitions against this lead ban. But back to subject at hand, I have yet been able to test anything, but like you this isn't why I joined but it would be nice to get one once in awhile. |

Ya, Ya know Kaiman some people only joined the club to show off their fish, or there big fishin boats or equipment, These members don't understand how much money the club brings in from ADVERTISEMENTS, and if they get stuff for us to test the sooner we get it the sooner we can be out fishin' and the sooner we can tell them wether or not we like it or not I mean after all who could catch any fish without a stinkin' little bobber or some kork for there box trays man, I don't know what I would have done without that stuff, Oh or the lifetime supply of fishing line I got from them. But just so long as the wealthy fishermen got a place to show off there rig, more power to em, Hang in there Buddy maybe us backwater fishermen'll get something soon |

You frigin crybabies make me want to puke. I didn't get to test anything, I didn't get my free stuff. why don't you dial 1-800-who gives a crap. If you can't afford to buy a boat or good fishing gear don't cut us down that can afford it. I have never posted a picture of my 2006 Triton 20X with it's Etec 225HO,or all 15 of my St Croix rods with Pflueger reels on them. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. If you son't have anything good to say about the club or the members then get the hell out. We don't need your crybaby ass. I for one am sick of all this negative crap. |

well stated. I'll give you something positive. Most of you guys are the best Darn folks I know. even though I've not met you personally you can come fish next to me any time and share a package of sweetrolls or whatever.
Oh ya the subject at hand: If you have been waiting a year, be patient. the clubs got alot of members(look at the bottom of the forum to see how many members now) I wonder if th economy has anything to do with the lack of test items. maybe the companies arent sending as much as they used to. alot of them are probably just trying to stay in the game. I am sorry that you got an item that was not a good fit for you. I got a pair of sunglasses that clip onto a baseball cap. i don't wear a baseball cap often so I completed the test to the best of my ability and then passed the glasses on to someone who could use them.

Besides the only ''cryin'' I hear, is about you guys having to throw away your expensive lead heads and sinkers, talk about stinkin up a websight! and then Basser has the gall to reply to my additon. IF YOU DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON IN THE COUNTRY THAT MAY OR MAY NOT EFFECT YOUR PRECIOUS RECREATION, THEN DONT READ IT. Have a nice day |

Besides if the club can't hold up there end of the bargain then maybe they shouldn't add members they can't satisfy, and take there money THE TRUTH WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IN THE BEGINNING, test items every 3-4 yrs ,,,Maybe. I didn't see that in the brochure! let us complain if we want isnt that how our country was built,,, A bunch of crybaby Englanders, and now we have all the same rules and taxes as they got over there,,, sorry to change the subject But DAMN. |

Wow, we still have a bunch of children on here. It was a simple question, which, for some odd reason, snowballed into a bashing session. I long for the old days when there was only a few of us on here and all we bashed was the occasional PETA idiot. This just enforces my decision not to post too much on here anymore. Ask some of the older members, they will tell you all that I used to be very active on the forum and chat room. Guys, some of you made some good points, however, check your spelling and sentence structure. Ciao!!! |

I've been a chartered member for about 9 yrs now and the field test gear (it was never real gear - just packets of spice and a couple of hooks) stopped coming about 4 yrs ago. The offer to field test was an added attraction to joining the club - the lack thereof hasn't made me want to quit it either. Fill out the forms and hope, or just give it up and enjoy the other things being a member offers. If you're not sure what those are, spend a few moments reading the main page here on the site! |

I must be doing better than I thought. I get something to test every 6 to 8 months, nothing of big money value. Line, lures, pliers, and other things. I still enjoy the things I've been sent. I get to try out some things I didn't buy and some of the test products have changed my mind about other fishing methods I hadn't tried before |

I just recieved my second field test item, a very good looking Okuma spinning reel. I am going to do my best to test this item but I have to wonder if the folks in charge of the field test program ever look out a window. I live in the Chicago area and do not ice fish (noted in my profile)How am I supposed to test a reel after all the water around the area is frozen solid and the temps are in the mid 30s on a warm day? Maybe we'll get a warm day and I can get out and at least practice cast a few times! Tom |

I got an email from the club on Dec. 22, 2010 stating that I have been chosen to field test the "Schrade 14in Old Timer Pro Fishermans Fillet Knife. The email said I should recieve the knife in 1-3 weeks, if I haven't already recieved it. It's now Feb. 7, 2011 and still no knife...spoke to the club about it...no answer...shocking... |

Don't take this as a defense of club policy, but some of these test products are mailed/shipped from the manufacturer or distributor, not the club. The club apparently forwards a name and address in response to a request for testers. The club sends the email, the item is shipped by someone else. My last filed test item hit my mailbox about 2 days before the email showed up! It just happened to be my birthday and I was racking my brain trying to figure out who would send me a reel for my birthday! Tom |
