You all think Its bad to have the EPA in our fishing? THink about this a moment, My dad's been running his own bussiness for 40+yrs painting, and restoring old homes, 5yrs ago they had him AND his crew take courses in lead base paint work safe practices, A 1 TIME ONLY COURSE THEY SAID THEN and NOW they want him and every other contractor in the biz who work on homes built before1978 to take a new course, and get this It's the sae people giving the course as it was 5 yrs ago cost then $80 cost now $120 if you took the test then , $220 if you didn't, WHOSE pocket are they trying to pad? For the whole crew do the math. Oh and It's the state inspecters giving the course.  If you own one of these homes be prepared to pay the price. Now they got my Dad in a position where he can't afford to take any fishing trips. So much for recreation in the free USA. When will our gov. understand that Mother Natuer giveith and she take ith away let the lead go back to the ground, even if we have to eat it in our fish, And if they want to stop making stuff out of lead good for them, but don't let us find out they got some in there back yards.

Hi everyone, well the Lead subject has been brought up before the house. In Washington State they are using the reason to ban lead from fishing because of 7 dead Loons found dead due too lead poison within 10 year study. My State also tried to banned lead for fishing it also has been shot down for now. The best thing to do is every fishing persons to send a email or call or even send a land mail to his or hers Congress persons and Senators of their State. The Green-Peace people org; has started this lead ban back on lead shot water fowl. But it won't be long before it's back on the books in Congress floor. So stand up for your rights and tell them no to ban on Lead. I have posted a letter that you could copy and paste. It should be posted under lead band letter.

As a fisherman...I don't want to see lead banned

But as a friend to MANY folks that have young children and grand-children...the rate of lead poisoning around the country...ESPECIALLY in areas where the houses are pre-1950's...is truly disturbing.

Close to 50% of kids under 6 in those areas have serious elevated levels of lead in their bodies

Not a good thing for sure

Hmmm, Thanks for your reply Dave; I'm not quite sure if you understand my quere The fact is  My dads business is insured for $2000000 to deal with lead on those homes , Employees have gone through work safe practices classes and clean up all the lead that comes off these houses and that's all more than they did  10 yrs ago, But they still want more, more, more all at once. It took decades to build the mess but they want to take over small businessesby telling them they need to pay for big insurance policies that only THE BIG BUSINESS"S have , and put that money in the hands of corporations, you know,,, there friends. that's for ALL gov. funded programs; All that's gonna do is raise prices on work being done with our tax $'s pay for, under that assuption we'll get less lead cleaned up for the same dollar; Think about that for a minute next time your out at your favorate fishin' park and the price of a pass has gone up! and beleive me I have seen what lead can do to youngsters ,and agree that the lead should be cleaned up, Now cant they trust that we're educated in our work? and I know that everyone thinks its a growing problem, But the truth is that we all grew up with it and many of us are fine, No that doesn't cure the problem but do we really need the Gov. costing us more money right now, in our economic crisis while they sit on there hands and do nothing but make new rules that cost us all. Ahh who has time to give a s--t? We're all puppets that are suposed to be too busy out fishing to see what there all up to, Ha Ha Ha .   well , ya all catch a big one for me   Bye for now!
