I think this is the photo Barresi is referring to. Maybe it's his lucky hat. I used to have a lucky shirt...wore it so long it fell apart!

LOL! I guess I can add you to the looooonnng list of people that don' like my lucky fishing hat! The list includes my wife, sister, dad, best friend, etc. etc etc.!

Here's a video of the lucky hat in action! http://youtu.be/XZDvApIi3I8

I love this hat because it reminds me of my Grandpa Huff, who used to wear a hat similar to this one. He, along with my dad, passed on to me my passion for fishing and boating. He was hardcore -- he and grandma, after he retired, lived in a house on a border-water lake accessible only by boat and snowmobile.

That is actually a Greek fisherman's hat...I just read a piece the other day that said they are high fashion in Europe!

It is similar to a Greek Fisherman's hat, but not made of quite a heavy material, and does not have the fancy tooling/stitching on the bill. It's more similar to a bus driver/truck driver hat from the 40s/50s, which probably explains why my grandpa wore one -- he was a OTR truck driver for Gambles. -- Greg

Ya can't mess with a hat that looks so much like the hat Marlon Brando wore in The Wild One.  I'm really surprised noone else could make the connection!  Especially when it's "in memory of" someone special like your grandfather!

Yep...it does look like Brando's hat...but that's not the connection I made. I kept seeing Jackie Gleason in the Honeymooners, then when Greg said it was a bus/truck drivers hat, I knew why!
