Today I had a problem in chat. Seems a member thinks it humorous to use my username to make inappropriate comments in chat. Rest assured that I am not the source of any comments involving soiling underwear or the like. Unfortunately, I am not sure what can be done about this. I have a feeling I may not be the only victim of this childish behavior.

Don't worry about it too much Tom...if we see some idiotic statement in there...we'll know its not you...maybe Barresi posing as you! And you're right, you're not the first victim of that crap. Has anyone EVER seen a moderator in the chatroom?

LOL, good one Mike :-) I wouldn't worry about it too much Tom. The regulars that are on chat know you wouldn't say anything inappropriate. Like Mike said, this was done not too long ago. One person comes to mind, the usual suspect.

I emailed my concern to member services on a whim. The response I got suggested I change my loggin password! Seeing as the chat room is not password protected and any member can log in under any name they choose, how is this going to help? Typical, clueless response from NAFC

I hear ya PG..."typical clueless response" is so right! My experience with member services here has been quite colorful too. I have made at least a dozen requests for help, and if they answer at all, they never follow through with anything. NAFC has to hold the world record for Most Unsatisfied Members.

Surprisingly, the NAFC has a good rating with the B.B.B, but they also have a ton of complaints, mainly with billing issues and a few customer services. They need to make the chat room so when you log on to chat, it's your NAFC user name and nothing else...so if there's anyone being a J/O, we'll know exactly who it is.

Hmm...if this is true...it makes one wonder why we all stay. I think if someone was to start a fishing club with a website that had working features and great member service, folks would be leaving here like rats from a sinking ship.

That's not what the case was rod tosser. I spoke to Greg via Twitter and it was a corporate downsize that severed Greg. The North American Magazine Inc seems to be reorganizing as a whole, if you read Pennaz editorial "Around the Bend" at the front of last month's edition. He too seems to be on the way out the door other than to "host a few episodes" as he put it.

I'm on the forums everyday in some way. I get them forwarded to my emails so I see the conversations, I seldom reply, only if I have anything to contribute or to expand on the question. Same reason I'm not on Facebook, I have no interest in broadcasting my life story.

You guys that have been around quite a while; Peg's Guy, Mo, Rod, Barresi, Capt, those of us that have been around for years now know that you're not going be disrespectful. (... Well except for Capt on the "Good Morning Life Members" )

But quite honestly guys let's be realistic, if you have an expectation of NAMag providing an interactive experience with it's members through it's own website (sarcasm) and not Facebook. Which includes holding their members accountable for adolescent behavior we as a group of members are going to be disappointed. I hate to say it, but I think NA Fishing Club is heading in one direction, down.

Unfortunately you're right Peg's, there's nothing that can be done to be held accountable for this childish behavior. And as a guy that has worked in IT for +12 years now, for their support to say "change your password" just proves the lack of depth that their customer service provides for their products. Between me and you, they're support is probably outsourced and they don't know the difference to start with that it's not just an open chat platform and doesn't pass through the member login credentials.

By the evidence of the recent vacancies it seems North American Fishing Club, and probably all of the NA Mag Inc publications are moving towards less interaction, not more.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to get so long winded. Tom, I am sorry for the harassment of this childish behavior. The anonymity the internet provides makes bullies out of cowards.

My recommendation would be to stop using the NAFC provided chat, and come together as a group and agree to move to a different site that provides a more secure chat resource that you are confident will provide a sense of personal identity protection that NAFC obviously can't.

Hi all - I want to make a clarification to my last post yesterday when I made the comment about Captain Quantum in the Life Members - Good Morning Life Members forum. I was in no way saying that Capt had been rude in the "Good Morning Life Members" forum if it was understood that way. What I was attempting was make a friendly joke about the time that he posted "Good Morning" in one word posts around December 18 or so. I meant nothing other than as to joke with Captain, and I meant nothing disrespectful by it. It was meant as a friendly teasing.

The group of guys that have posted in this post specifically I read what you have to say and respect you. I have had my questions and you have replied and gave me direction and ideas and I appreciate that, I would never say something otherwise.

Captain, I apologize sincerely for any misunderstanding. It was an attempt at a joke among friends.

    Most respectfully,
    -James

I remember the posts that you're referring to armstrong.j...but Nov. 12th 2011 was the rude comment he made. The old boy must have had a change of heart...because now he posts there all the time.
