I just have a simple question. I keep searching for the television show on Versus but all I ever see any more is our sister show North American Hunter. Is there just a certain time when the North American Fisherman is on during the year? Thank you and have a great day. I love the show and enjoy being a life member.

I agree, I also miss the NAFC television programs.  Why are fishermen (and women) being left out.

It would be nice to even get the programs. We only can get ESPN which doesnt have it on. I can only watch  NAF-TV on the computer and they are not curent. You are the lucky ones.

I catch most of the airings and really enjoy most topics featured! I really enjoyed the sturgeon episode on the Columbia as it brought back memories of a few years ago when I was out there. We used pretty much the same tactics. The only thing that gets me is the music at the start of the show, for some reason it reminds me of something from a porn movie. lol

I enjoy the show, only seen it a couple of times,  but it is fun to watch.  Ours is on VS channel here in SW Florida.  I do agree I would also like to see more clips of women and men fishing.  Perhaps discussing technique.

Now that I no longer have television of any sort I will definitely be looking to check out the shows on Versus.com. I miss being able to watch the great action. I also miss watching episodes opf North American Hunter as I am a dual life member in both groups. Thanks for the information. Could anyone tell me what times I can catch the NAFC and NAHC shows on versus.com in the eastern time zone please?

NAFC-TV airs only during the winter/spring months. Old episodes are available online through Versus.com, myoutdoortv.com and from this web site. These should be available 'on demand'.

Hopefully NBC doesn't change the format of the soon to be old VS channel. NBC's idea of outdoor programming consists of X game type programs, such as bmx biking, skateboarding and snow boarding....

I participated in a media summit this spring with a top Versus executive (he is one of the people that has the power to OK new shows), and he said NBC is not only committed to maintaining the outdoor programming, but increasing it by getting rid of most of the infomercials and replacing those with more outdoor content. -- Web Guy Greg

When will the US media stop trying to shove european football (soccer) down the collective throats of the US public? I live in the Chicago area which has a sizeable ethnic population and our MLS team can't fill an 8,000 seat stadium. Try and get a ticket to a Bears or Cubs game in this town!

Good point PG...Let me it take it a step further and see if this makes any sense....NBC is a LIBERAL media outlet that caters to the left wing...Most left wing liberals despise fishing and hunting and would ultimately like to ban it all together...just look at all the regulations that have been put in place since President Obama has been in office with regards to marine and wildlife. I think once NBC has full reigns of the network, you'll see a slow phasing out of the hunting and fishing shows, to be replaced with MLS games and European soccer, more Hockey, and probably X game like sports ie: bmx biking, skateboarding and snowboarding...Hopefully Outdoor channel and ESPN will take advantage of this and pick up the void.

Unfortuneatly ESPN has already pulled the plug on most of their outdoor programing. Perhaps that will change if a market is available. The fact is that it is the bottom line that drives programming- the networks air what they can sell advertising on. I think what we might see is the outdoor stuff being moved to the wee hours of the morning.

Went through my normal Sunday morning routine here today-get up early, fetch the paper, pour a cup and read the paper. Go down to the computer and check my mail and log on here. At this point, I normally fire up the TV and tune in North American Fisherman. Not today. I guess that starting Super Bowl coverage about 5 hours before the game on NBC wasn't good enough and NAF got pre-empted by Bob Costas. Not just NAF either but the whole outdoors programming for the morning. What's next, World Cup 24 hrs a day? Figure skating? This may be a once a year thing but it sure doesn't bode well. Remember that Versus was a Comcast owned channel and Comcast is now the parent of NBC. Seems they have also decided that the Lindners' inspirational message at the end of their show had to go also. While I am not particularly religious, what was the harm? The more I see, the more I believe that the outdoor stuff is going to the back burner.

I just noticed that too...I was watching the latest Lindner's Angling Edge today...And they (NBC) edit out Al's inspirational message which he gives at the end of his show. I too, am not overly religious, but what is wrong with an inspirational message at the end of his show? Is bad? Will it make you a bad person for listening to a nice story/message? Or does it take up too much time in his show? It didn't before...Are the people at NBC just a bunch of "Atheist" and feel the need to convert everyone? Does NBC not know that most outdoors men are Christian and believe in a higher power? There's an attack on our 1st Amendment right by the current President and his Administration. If you been reading or watching the news, there's an assault on Christianity, particularly the Roman Catholic Church. I bet if there was a fishing show on NBC called "Fishing with Ali Ikrimah" and he gave a reading from the Koran...nothing would be said and there would be no editing...

I think the main thing on NBC's mind is that 2 minutes that Al spent trying to recruit a few souls for the Lord could be spent on something more productive to them...like more air space for sponsors. I don't carry a bible around either, but I have never been offended by Al's inspirational messages. As a matter of fact...I have found them to be just that...inspirational.

Here's a follow up: I emailed Lindner Media, and this is what they wrote: We received notice from NBC Sports a few weeks back regarding the inspirational message Al presents at the close of each program. The following is a quote from NBC Sports (formerly Versus) “Moving forward, NBC Sports Network will no longer allow any non-sports related content, such as religious content in their programs. Any religious references need to be removed entirely. This includes, but not limited to, on show opens or logos, graphics, animations or any references by talent or guests. This change goes into effect immediately.” Therefore, we have no choice but to remove this segment from our Angling Edge series.
I guess NBC has a problem with Faith and Inspirational Messages...Shame on them.

I don't believe the show is broadcast any more. I have it scheduled to record all the shows, but haven't had any new ones in months. I have checked the channel line ups, but nothing about NAFC airing any more. I guess that maybe Stevie had the broadcast rights to it and when he left, so went the show.

I just set a recording for that time, Rod Tender, can't wait to see the new show. and is it just me or does Eric Haataja look like solely a Great Lakes guy? I don't think I've seen him fish anywhere or for anything else on this site at least.

Eric is a well respected guide that fishes all over Wisconsin, however it seems that NAF chooses to use only his Great Lakes stuff.

Yeah I'm kinda getting that jist. However, the episode I saw on walleyes in the Great Lakes was interesting. I'm not much of a walleye fisherman, but I don't think I've ever seen someone cast a spinner instead of trolling it. Also, the little section on rigging was a great addition to the show, if anybody from NAFC is reading this right now
