Hey jbugg, try going to your local Wal-mart , Dicks Sporting Goods or any other outdoor retail store in your area and pick up some books on fishing or a simple instuctional D.V.D on how to start fishing, Try going down to you local bait shop and pick there brains for information on how to get you kids into fishing they have great local knowledge for fishing. Let the kids know that fishing takes patients...haha "something we all have to learn as yougsters" and like Frwhlr38 said "start with the basics". Kids are the future of this sport and we need to keep it alive...your doing a great thing by introducing your kids to the outdoors keep it up! If you need any other information feel free to also PM me if you need to pick my brain as well. Good luck and Tight Lines!

jbugg: Another good resource is the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Library. It is available through their web site (www.basspro.com). There are many beginner articles available to read and usually download. One word of warning. When the younger ones lose interest, call it a day. The youngsters seem to be fine as long as they are catching, so 15 bluegill beats a trophy any day. Hello Junebug, the best thing i can say is to go to walmart and talk to the guys in sporting goods, get just the basics, then all of you just go have fun. Even if you guys dont catch, you still got a good day with the boys. Im out of Fresno, and i try to take my boys (11yr & 4yr) as much as possable. Good luck Josh |

Hi jbugg, I would only add that if you ask around in your neck of the woods,(Wal-mart, Bass pro shop or a locale bait shop)there is probably a fishing club or organization that might have a youth group you could join. Do keep it simple to start and make it an adventure and they will remember it always. Good Luck & Keep on fishing!! Ken
