Thank you brother for sharing this story and for the awesome tribute to your dad. I am sorry for your loss as well. Its been nearly 12 years ago that I lost my dad and hardly a day goes by that I don't think about him and some of the great times we had fishing together. There are many times that I feel him with me as I head out on those misty early mornings and can almost hear him cheering me on when landing a fish. I look forward to fishing with him again someday in a better place. May God bless you and thanks again for sharing the story!

I originally read this on the same day you posted this but hesitated on posting because I had a hard time putting my feeling into words and I still cannot do too good of a job at it. I lost my dad a couple of years ago and also still think of him on a daily basis. we were not the best of friends until maybe the last 10 years but your story made me think about how he introduced me to fishing and always had tons of patience with me and my sister.

Thanks you very much for sharing and welcome to the forum.

Honest thoughts by you rhinohead...and I'm sorry for your loss.

I lost my Dad back in '88 to bone cancer. I was "lucky" in the sense that at the time I needed a hernia operation...and the least expensive place to have it was back here in Wisc. So I got to spend roughly 3 weeks here at home before he passed about a month later.

As a young kid...I often would discuss fishing with him...and though we lived on a farm with river property....he allowed me to fish down there by myself at a young age. He told me of his experiences as a kid on a farm in Wisconsin that had an old mill pond on a creek...and it had backwaters too.

Ironically...the river that I grew up on had some of the same features that his creek had.

God Bless....and thanks for your post
