I have been a member since May of 2009 and already have been victim to some of the worst customer service ever. I have not yet received my gifts promised for joining the club, and have yet to receive my validation stickers aswell. There have been mistakes to my account over and over, and the customer service line is always busy. When I did get through all I got was a "we are working on it." I have received countless offers by mail to become a LIFE MEMBER, and invoices saying I have to pay my membership dues which I did and still no stickers no gifts, the only thing I do receive is offers. Seems like they have time to send me offers, but not what was promised. There are mistakes after mistakes on my account and I am trully sick of it. Ridiculous astrocious customer service, with a greedy mindset of offers and don't deliver what they promise. I have yet to receive an offer to field test any product and doubt it I ever will. I have not even received the gifts I paid for, how could I ever expect such company to deliver on their word that I COULD be asked to field test a product. REALLY REALLY bad club with absolutely the Worst customer service ever.... |

I have been a lifer since 2005 and have only field tested some hooks and a knife. I was told to fill out the survey form to be considered for field testing . I thought becoming a life member kind of negated the need to keep filling out forms.I have kept every mag they have ever sent me and have yet to make it into the life member listing and have sent in several pictures for consideration for the mag. Only one has made it in five years.
We club members asked for an on line store and what they have put on this forum is a poor excuse.
I think this club seriously misrepresents itself,in order to draw in prospective members and once they get your money, they are done with you. When I joined Life membership the best they had to offer, but now to get more of my money they want me to pay for an upgraded life charter or some crazy title. I don't think so, they have gotten all the money they ever will from me .
If I had it to do over, I would not have paid for life membership. |

For me, the billing is slow and I don't get much feedback, but I am already a lifetime member on a payment plan. I can tell that it takes a while to get answers. I hope that it gets better soon, but I'm not the fastest person these days either!! Chris M. |

I've been a life member since 04 and have NOT had a problem. I got my rod & reel with my name on it and use it often, I've seen where some members have had bad luck with thier's and others, no problem.
I've also never seen my name in the mag. and like I said, member since 04. But it dose not upset me either. Stop beining a baby about something so little and of such petty stuff.
Field test what you get and HOPE to be one of the LUCKY ones that get to test the BIG things. If not I'll gladdly keep testing what they DO send me and KEEP it.
Now go out there and do some FISHING. Have a great day. |

I have been a lifer since 99 and have not experienced any problems. more than got my moneys worth with just the mags. I recently started vistiting the forum and this has added awhole new dimension to my membership. To all those who have had problems I am sorry to hear that and I hope it does not change your mind about the club. In a way I wish the gift that the lifetimemembers get now was available back in 99. I received a diawa rod and reel combo pack rod. It is pretty nice and I still use it all the time but I think I would have liked the personalized rod and reel. Best thing I can suggest is to keep in contact with the club and persist in letting them know when you have a problem.

I have been a life member since 95 and have had any problems I got my bass ring right away and everything else the promised. The only thing that bothers me, is they send you things like calanders and books that you don't ask for and expect you to pay for them and if you don't they want you to send it back on your dime. So if you get things you don't want just eamil them and tell em if they want it back then send a return postage sticker. It works I did it last year for the 2010 calander. I have gotten products to field test mostly junk though. I also have never been on the honor roll. I guess they need the money to send Pennaz on his fishing trips. Come to think of it he seems to be the only one who benifits from our money. |

They started sending me books shortly after I became a lifer, I called and asked them not to send me anything and they haven't except an occosional pack of product cards or an upgrade to be a trophy member. I'm still involved in the product test program. It is what it is, if you don't want unwelcomed things sent to ya, call them. This is where a store would come in handy because maybe I would want something they are sending out but don't want to have the bother of returning things I don't want. |

If you look at the posts by disgruntled members you will see that a large portion of them are unhappy that they have been a member for 6 months and haven't recieved $$$ worth of merchandise to field test. There are over 160,000 members and maybe 10 a month get something to field test. If that is why you joined, you will be disappointed. The real value to club membership is the advice available here in the forums. Stick with it and you will find yourself with a whole bunch of new fishin' buddies all over the country and beyond. Tom |

dont call someone a baby for complaining about something he SHOULD BE complaining about. IMO if the service is anything like he described, i will end my service right then and there and move on.
Honestly, if you are a member period you should be treated with the upmost kindness, what ever happened to the saying the customer is always right. that saying and motto helps businesses create better products, and service. just listen to the complaints and do the best to fix them please NAFC.
I know you are not supposed to complain about gifts, but when you are lured in by the promise of a gift, then you need to honor that promise.
Not saying it even happened, being i dont know the member complaining or anything, just saying if he truely did not receive anything, you need to make it up to him.

I've been following "alanders" for a few weeks through forums. For some reason he caught my attention. Seems like a young angler who has won the battle with a lot of problems and has really fallen in love with fishing and those who fish. When you don't listen to your customers, they usually are not nearly as right as they are gone! I am fairly new to the club but I've been fishing for over 50 years and don't plan to give it up, nor this club. I would just love to see more "alanders" in the club. They can help us grow--sure there are 160,000 but there could be double or triple that number. Share what you know with those coming along-- what better heritage could we give them! I thank God for all of you and those yet to be. Uncle Tom Remember those fish you caught with cord wrapped around a tin can with hook and worm on the other end or how about those caught on red ribbon who we snatched out on the creek bank when they bit, no hook attached. |
|
| I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |

WELL I AM PRETTY SURE WE ALL AGREE WITH "ALANDERS" OPION. NOW WHY HE HAS A SPECIAL FEEL I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I HAVE BEEN PATIENTLY WAITING FOR MY GIFTS AS PROMISED BUT I AM AFRAID BECAUSE I PAID FOR MY MEMBERSHIPS DUES ONLINE THAT I WILL SUFFER THE WHOLE PROCESS OF NOT MAILING IN MY DUES.I HAVE CONTACTED THE CLUB BY EMAIL AND THE REPLY I RECIEVED WAS SORRY FOR THE INCOVIENENCE AND THAT THEY WOULD BE RE SHIPPED. SO AS WITH ALL THINGS IN LIFE YOU JUST HAVE TO SIT BACK AND WAIT. OR CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP,WHICH ONCE YOU DO IT WILL PROBABLY COME IN THE MAIL SHORTLY AFTER LOL. |

I gather the club puts a lot more effort into the sales and selling of it and once that's done, the club really don't have the support for those who have become members. |

BACK IN MARCH, I RECEIVED A CLUB PROMOTION TO RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP FOR 3 YEARS AND I WAS TO RECEIVE A FILET KNIFE IN 2 TO 6 WEEKS, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE KNIFE, I CALLED 3 TIMES SO FAR AND ALL I HEAR IS "IT WAS SENT OUT", AND YOU SHOULD BE RECEIVING IT IN 4 TO 6 WEEKS. THEY SURE AS HELL TAKE YOUR MONEY FAST ENOUGH, IF I DO NOT GET MY KNIFE SOON I WILL BE CANCELING MY MEMBERSHIP, THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND I AM GETTING REALLY SICK OF THE CRAP I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER FOR 5 YEARS, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A TEST PRODUCT, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE FILLED OUT THE REQUEST SEVERAL TIMES, (TWICE A YEAR). HEY STEVE PENNAZ I HAVE A FEW SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR STUPID CLUB. |

I am a life member and on tell I die I am eligible to participate in contests ,and in field testing and some discounts available to members. so if i use them regularly and add them all up over a life time . Perhaps then i may be the one ripping the club off. TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT THAT. It may only take winning one contest or field testing one item to more then pay for the price of becoming a member. A tip from other members FOLLOW UP ON LEADS . always send a thank you to the manufacture of an item you get to field test, you never know where it may lead. {more offers, manufacture coupons } |

I Don't know if it's the worst club ever (maybe because its the only one I've joined) but I don't feel so bad now, I joined this year and signed on as a life member in May I have not received the fishing pole yet, so I'm not the only one. I always get the auto service and it really doesn't give you a number for complaints, if they read the forums I think they should have a number dedicated to problems, and when it comes back that the box is full at least we would know weather they cared or not. |

I have received the cheap hooks to test, and did not like them.My rod and reel with name is fine no problems with it.Also have not gotten any magazines in 6 to 8 months. Hi bsullivan. If you have not gotten your mag for 6 to 8 months you should probably get a hold of member services. Better yet Look at rod tossers advice above. This may be a better way to get it straightened out. alos make sure your field test profile is up to date and re summitted after any field test that you do. This is not automatically done.
Good luck

Hey k;
There are a lot of good things about this club. It is not ALL doom and gloom. Since you have been a member since three days ago, you should visit some of the other threads. There is a lot of useful info on them, and loads of great fisherpeople. Hope you will like the rest of the club. Just don't be too disgruntled by a couple of threads here. Unfortunately, we have all become used to having things happen in an instant. I have been a life member since may of 2009 and have loved all the stuff I have received. If you don't pay off the membership feee right away and just make payments you do not receive the reel until half of the fees are paid and then when you pay the final amount of the fees off you will receive the fishing pole. I hope everyone has a great 2011! |

Clubs are what we make them! I have always made it a habit to pay my bills on time. I can understand how aggravating it is to get something in the mail you have not requested and I can live with sending it back with my dime. What really aggravates me is when you check your account and you have unpaid history of publications and things that you have not even received yet! Without a doubt the club needs some help in accounting! Why don't some of you members who have accounting backgrounds drop a hook in that pool and see what you catch? Uncle Tom (Trophy Life Member) HELP! HELP! Check the bilge pump we may be sinking in our own water. |

Since I made the post on Nov. 5 I have to day received all the things that were to come with the life member ship. I would wish I had more patience, and now I know there are other people out there like me, but unlike me give it some time I'm sure it will work for you too. I'm sorry if I gave a bad impression to any other new person, but the other people are right the wait plus all the other stuff you get is well worth it. |

I have just joined for 3 years. I hope the stories of bad issues are few however already my account says 2 years paid for $24 not $36 which I sent and was cashed. An email to club has been sent. I was hoping for the ability for fishing interaction and knowledge of others through the forums and I understand and do not want "something for nothing" but also demand what was promised and paid for. North American Fishing Club I hope this is a minor issue and get resolved quickly and I will let all know it has been taken care of, or not. |

Hello Mlakel; The NAFC is a good club. Period. The forums are great, and the camaraderie is excellent. The club is like any other club, as in you get what you put into it. If a person doesn't extend any effort to become part of the group, or is only expecting to product test outboard motors, bass boats, etc, then that person will be disappointed. That is not what this club is about. This club is about people of different backgrounds and modes of life sharing one common interest...fishing. We get together and talk about how to better our fishing experiences, what types of equipment and what baits or lures we use, and mostly start to congeal as an extended family. However, just like in real families, there will be differences of opinion, and some heated debates may, and do occur. But, that happens whenever a few people get together over any subject. Just like in any group, there are naysayers, and do-gooders. It is up to each member to decide what works for them, and to delete the rest, and get on with being an active member...with ACTIVE the key word. So with that in mind, join in the conversations on the forums and in the chat room. Become an active member. Start threads on the subjects that interest you. I find that I have mostly a positive relationship with the club, as do most members here. As for the amount of money you sent and what is stated on your account page, you did correct in emailing the club. If you don't get an answer, email them again, or call them. I believe there is an 800 number available. Good luck, and welcome to the club. May you enjoy a long and happy relationship with it, Salty Dan Orange Texas |

A lot of people are saying that the club is getting worse more just about the website but I enjoy all of the changes that have been made. Every time I have called and talked to people they were very helpful and I think the club is a great way to learn from others and share stories. I am glad I joined and hopefully I can save up enough money to become a life member. I gotta get a job this summer after school. |

Thanks for the kind words, Salty Dan! We do work very hard here to make every club member's experience a positive and fulfilling one, but we do err from time to time. But I can assure you that I will be aware of any issue brought up here and will pass it on to member services, or whichever dept. can provide the best and quickest solution. I was a club member for three years before I was hired here in early February, so I know where you are all coming from! ... mlakel: I have sent a summary of your issue to my main man in member services. He's very good at getting back to me quickly on these things and solving member concerns as soon has possible. -- Regards, Web Guy Greg

The disgruntled members on this site are like the fat people in the front of the line at McDonalds. They don't know what they want and after they order they come back to complain that they were ripped off or that they want a refund. Grow up! Read the fine print before joining the club! I am very happy I discovered this club. I am very happy with the people I have met and the products I have received. So if you don't like it, LEAVE! Im sick of hearing all of the negativity! |

I agree with 'alanders'. And if you've been waiting for 2 years, I think it's definetly past the time for being patient. There ARE some things that need to change.
I'm not saying this club stinks. There's alot of useful information here. |

I have said it before what is the value of one friend? ok so if you make two or more friends then what ? I know the club has issues I don't deny it . But just consider if you only make one friend how that can change your life . the knowledge you can pass back and forth . perhaps a place to stay when out of town . Perhaps a new hot tactic learned . The best way to learn new things is from some one else . So share what you know And keep a open mind and learn from others . |

It is interesting to note that the only thing this club doesn't promise you when you join is the great comradery RT speaks of. The more time I spend here, the clearer it becomes. I can send a PM to one of my friends here...and get a quick answer. If I send one to member services...I'm lucky to even get a response...and if I do...it is just yet another unfulfilled promise. It's a damn shame that this club can't support its members as well as it's members support it. Until some things change around here...you won't hear me praising the "club". |

I couldn't agree more, I may have only been a member for a short while, but I have met some great people on here. It's nice talking to people in the chat, when it actually WORKS!!! It is completely clear that this site is made by its members and not the "staff". About the most efficient thing they can do is accept money for membership and mail a few gifts. I'm not here for gifts, if I needed a pack of bobbers or a fishing mag I could go out to the local walmart and pick up both with much less hassle. I'm here to talk to fellow fisherman and have a good time when I'm not out tossing my line. Unfortunately when the chat crashes (which it does quite often), it is about as fun as having my line cast into a tree. I look forward to being a member of the club for a long long time, and I DO NOT believe that it is "the worst club ever"... However, somebody in Management needs to step it up and take as much pride in this site as some of the guys in here clearly display. |

Any club is only as good as it's members. For all of you discontents, you need to remember that this is an information source to be better fishermen/women. If you feel this is not a club/website worth your time, I suggest you move on to something and some where else if you have real problems with the club it would be better to voice those to a person over the phone instead of hiding behind the internet. If you are waiting for the bait/rod/reel/hook fairy to stop at your house, get real, grow up and stop wasting our time with your petty sniping. |

If this site "blows" so badly then why do you insist on visiting it and commenting on its forums? Strange. |

Last night there was what must be a record number of users in the chatroom...even though we have to deal with being dumped and booted every three or four entries. For so many members to deal with this problem is testament to how well we like the chatroom. Several members have sent Emails to member services...but I have yet to hear any response. Does ANYONE from the staff address problems around here anymore? Hard to believe this is North America's largest fishing club. |

Hey MO65; There used to be a couple of guys at HQ who seemed to care. Joel was one, and webguygreg was the other. webguygreg would answer questions, and he tried to get things turned around. However he is not here anymore, and I am not sure Joel is either. As you say, there are several of us who use the chat room. Seems as though it runs pretty smooth, most of the time. I enjoy the camaraderie there. But, if you want to get results from the higher-ups, then you need to get on facebook, or whatever new venue is happening at the moment. Seems as though that is the only place HQ seems to be interested. I wouldn't say this is the worst club ever because of all the friends I have met and here. But if customer service ranks high on member's list of priorities here at NAFC, forget it. They come in a very distance last place as far as I am concerned. Seems all they are interested in is trying to get more money out of my pocket and into theirs! Catch you in chat, Salty Dan |

New to club, and as always the first thing i do is troll the forums for the complant dept and low and behold there always seems to be one " figure that" and it always seems the same problem, no ones giveing me free stuff, no one replyed to my e mail 5 min after i sent it, why is my name not in lights why, why, why hell iam happy to be here and no they did not send me a 2012 Bass Tracker to test out would be nice, but if they did i would not have time to read the fantastic artical here. but the one thing i do find very funny is all the conplants i see and the ones i read ,and no i dont read them all some are just to stupit for me to waist time on just remeber this we all dont get what we think we should and or some tears will fall, most of are happy wth life and the lack of free thing thats we should get and dont ........ but remember one thing we all signed the check with or without reading small print and we have survived it. if i never get a free thing from the club i will still be happy in my endeavor to get the biggest fish and i ill read what i can to help me be a better fisherman and i will not sit and wait for the mailman to deliver free stuff for me to test, ian sure with all the members the club has, some people do get overlooked iam sorry to hear about all the stuff you did not get iam here to stay and happy to be here PS the Bass Tracker would be nice !!!!!!! Ive been a member since 09 and I also feel that it has gone downhill. I was expecting to feild test poles or reels or something. They just kept sending me line. Now, I don't get anything. All well, I enjoy chating with all you guys anyway. Although this site is still pretty crappy, it sure beats Facebook. I can't stand the BS that people talk about on that site. Would rather talk about fishin' than finding out my buddy made a sandwich for lunch. |

It seems I stand corrected. My frustration isn't necessarily directed at NAFC itself so much as it is at whoever runs this site. Many problems with this site and I'm sure you will agree with that.

The simple fact is that all of us PAID to join this club. I have been around long enough to remember when A) Things worked B) Most members could be civil and C) most of the discussion was at least fishing related. Look in the forums. The average 'age' of a post is somewhere in the vicinity of 6-8 weeks (don't quote me, just a rough estimate) and if things are so wonderful here, why is that? |

Thank you for admitting that...and your honesty I ONLY come here for the Forums...so if there are issues with the main site etc...I don't spend alot of time on here looking for them. At the same time...I will NOT let your OF "buddies" continue to trash this Club & site...and MY topics in particular. I've been on here since 2001...and through the years I've seen a loudmouth or 2 come through here doing the same types of things. ALL were eventually kicked off of here.
I can't deny that I wasn't warned a couple of times about things I said on here...but at the SAME time...MY loyalty is to the Club...and will REMAIN so. Just as I am an infrequent LOYAL member of YOUR site |

Thanks Dave. It's much nicer to carry on a civil conversation (and easier on the blood pressure to boot) don't you think? I can't tell you how many times I have to hit the reply button, then the return button, then the reply button (and sometimes completely log off, then re-log in) to post a simple reply! Doesn't anyone maintain these forums to make things simple for us to post and reply without unnecessary hassles? For instance, just making this post, after entering it, the site froze up with just a blank screen. I had to log off, then back on twice just to be able to edit this post to express my frustration with the inefficiency of the way this site operates!!! |

Actually...the "back button" doesn't work well on many websites. You are better off to Right Click on a link on a webpage, then click on "Open In New Tab". |

why are you using the back button on your computer? to view your post or go to the next post
I just type my reply in the quick reply box thats on the bottom of every page and hit submit .. on multipal page post like this one after you submit your post it will reload to the first page of the topic this post has 4 pages to see your post you need to open the last page by clicking on the ( red # page 4) above
once that loads and after reading your post if you want to edit it simple click on the pencil right side of the post it takes a few minute for your post to apear edit it and re-submit click on the last page again to reveiw it no need to togal back and forth with your back button
if you want to view or comment to another post don't use your back button just click on ( active topics ) the top left side of the page below the header it takes you back to the active topic page
One more thing the edit feature only alows you to edit your post when you post it ! it's only available for a couple of hr and then you cannot edit |

I have learned thru experience in the few forums I belong to that one's that are successful and are active are ones that have staff available to contact. Moderators on the sites I belong to are always willing to help and will try and answer any question you have. I think if this forum had a moderator or two that had access to the controls in this forum..it would not be in the shape it is. Just my 2 cent.....LOL

I agree a moderator would be helpful to intervene when things get out of hand or to help. however one thing thats overlooked by us is that this is a corperation and not an individual web/ form there are 10 clubs website/forms. Are they really going to hire 10-20 people to monitor them we all know the answer. I just opened the unanswered topic section there are 50+ unanswer post by members looking for help or sharing info. if we all check there first and answer or comment on those post we as members can bring the forums back to what it was JMO

OK Rod Tender...I just gave it my best shot...but all I found there I felt qualified to answer was one thread. Looks like most are "area specific", and many are just things for sale or recipes. At any rate...I tried...so lets see some of you others get in there and make an attempt. |

With as MUCH internet experience that SOME of you have...I'm surprised that you folks didn't figure that out sooner At the SAME time...I hope you folks NOTICE that I brought up a topic in "Computer & Technology" about making a "screenshot".
