Hi All, Just want to give a bit of an explanation on the
changeover. We were building out this new forum with new functionality,
etc, and as we got really close to the end, we started to have site
issues on Sunday night and Monday morning at the server level on the
actual site, we started spinning some time to fix those issues, and
ultimately just made the decision to cut over now to the new forums. We
apologize for the lack of a notice because of that, but realized it
made little sense to spend time working on a forum that was going away
in a week or so, and was probably better to just rip the band aid off
and get to work on this new forum. I think you guys will like
this new forum, it has a number of new features, like posting pictures
in line, custom sort options that you can choose, etc. We also have a
new community manager to help answer questions, hear suggestions, and
talk fishing. Because of the quick turnover, we aren't done, and will
be listening to your feedback as to how we can make this forum better.
Thanks all! |

I would just like to know why; after, like so many others, we are listed as new members? I've been a lifer since 03. How do I get veteran status in my profile?

Sorry Bulltrout. Those are for your status on the forums only, not linked to your memberships. I changed them to read "poster" vs "member" to clear up the confusion. These are completely open for debate... do we keep them? Change the categories? Come up with better (more fishing related) classes? Maybe its tongue in cheek? Let us know! |

Well I thought it's time to have a special place to commemorate our members reaching a milestone in our Bulletin Board's history. Come here to SEE what the status signature names stand for of those that have "Jabber Fingers" and use them to surpass the 1000th, 2000th, 3000th, 4000th, 5000 posts etc. Reaching beyond the limits of cyber typing, posting and communicating. <!--graemlin::eek:-->
Congratulations to ALL that find their way here, it's a task I know you all enjoyed doing, besides, nobody made you do it, you reached this place because you're a sick lonely person and have nothing better to do with your time, right? <!--graemlin: --> Not true, you're here because the club has that stupid counter on here that counts our posts, right? <!--graemlin: --> Nope, it's because WE LOVE BEING HERE!!!!
Just a note to ALL, you don't have to be over a 1000 posts to come here and post. This is for entertainment only and to get us through the winter months, so have fun, and post as usual. <!--graemlin: -->

There are some of us that really don't have anything better to do for one reason or another. This site kept me from killing my wife over the winter with both of us unemployed and housebound. Keep that in mind when you think about criticising some of the more prolific posters. I don't care how many posts a member has, it's wether he has meaningful input that matters. Sure wish some of the members could spell better though..... Tom

Hey guys, There is an "edit" button, but you are only able to edit your own posts within 30 minutes from the original post. The reason for this is when there are arguments on the site, and someone crosses the line, often times we get a report to look in to it, but the offending poster will have edited their post, so we can't see what happened. 30 minutes should give someone the ability to correct anything they want without abusing the system. Do you guys think that's fair? Thanks! |

How did all of you know about the new web address ? I haven't been able to get to the site for most of the week. Kept getting an error message when I clicked on NAFC in my "FAVORITES" list. Finally decided to use "BING" and search for NAFC.
Now I find out I'm starting back at 0 for my post count. Thanks !

Hasn't worked for days, if you click on the link you'll see what I've been getting. Can't seem to get it to save my avitar and signature either.

Got my avitar back by taking the pic off my computer instead of photobucket. Tried several times from photobucket, it would have the link shown and say it was saved but wouldn't actually save it. Now I just have to figure out what happened to my post count.

The larger font would be good. Now, tell me about the pics...I don't recognise the button for uploading pics or text. I do like the smily choices!
The last few mornings (7a EST) I have been able to post a couple of times and then the site won't let me post again until later in the day...
The folks that still use dial-up modems should like the site better. It is much faster!

hmmm remember they have to update and when they update stuff they transfer data and that may not let you log in or do other things tell that data gets implemented. So far i like it . give them time to move things around like the fish species all in one place. perhaps this will give us a chat room back . PETE GIVE THEM TIME TO ADD FEATURES LIKE PICTURES . it may just be a mater of adding a tab with bb code or turning bb code on . |

Pete we need to ask this at the bottom of the site with a new thread. I just want to know if they are lost forever. If yes wawa some and go on or wawa and leave. You did back up most of your " How to threads" on the Ohio site and if you used photobucket they are easy to bring over here IF you want to. I kown how hard you worked on them before the last BB change to have the WHOLE thread lost except for the very first post. Then work to get them on the last site to have ALL the pictures you uploaded to that site lost boy I would NOT be a happy camper............. .....................so bro lets see if they will say if they backed up ALL , EVERYONES , pictures that were uploaded to the old site or just pulled the plug. Then you can let me know what you want to do and we'll GET IT DONE!!!!!!! |

Tom, great observation! But you won't believe what happened. After, six months I got my life membership card. I can't tell you how excited I was--no more gripes! Maybe that long lost rod will show up soon. I sure hope I don't break it like some of those St. Croix, Fenwicks, Bass Pro, Wal Mart, Dick's or Cabela's rods standing in the barrel in the garage. Last year I noticed there were a few that I made myself in that barrel. If you step on them or catch them in the tailgate they don't hold up long but being determined to clean out the garage and committing not to throw those vintage editions away I discovered they make great tomato stakes(tomato stakes with a life time guarantee) and man was I glad my Dad never thought what great items of discipline they would make--Thank God for peach tree switches. Good luck and good Fishing! What do you say when your precious little grand daughter breaks one? I know what you do not say when your wife breaks one. She acted just the same when I bought her a new yellow wheel burrow for her birthday. As Tony says: Have a grreeeaaaaatttt day. Uncle Tom I watched that TV special and I thought what a great opportunity for a NAFC tournament!!!!!!! |
|
| I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |

Just tried it and it worked great. It loaded quickly. You may need to create a signature for yourself however. |

Hey Doc, the entire site has been slow for weeks! I was able to send a PM this morning. I just don't know how to tell if I received a response other than going into the PM window again! |

It does not seem as simple as before. Whats the best way to find a member that you want to send a PM to? Brian |

Brian, I had to go to a post, write down the "club handle" that the individual used, go to the PM section and type it in. Ed, I sent you a return (answered) PM and an email... I am still having problems with the "Add Reply" button! This is a "Quick Reply"... There is going to have to be a better way to do PMs...Perhaps they're not finifhed yet... |

yep i just noticed it tonite.......wish i had earlier......it is a bit different from what we are use to but it does work. it's been in use over at the hunting clubs forum for a little more than a month now. not sure but the pms are sent to that persons email address....so watch it when you send a pm to someone that you don't want to have your email address. because it does send it along with the pm. at least thats how it works on the hunting clubs site. |

As far as a confirmation, I don't remember there being one before the change, you just had to trust that it went! I have never been sent a pm that had a member's email address unless it was put in the body of the message, they come to me with the club as the originator. Tom |

tom, for the 1st. month on the hunting clubs site it had that persons email address as if they sent you an email from their email address when they used the sites pm. i haven't sent an email for a couple weeks. but i found out that a friend up in mi. sent me a pm the other day and it didn't come throu to me from him. but we chat all the time by email any ways. so since i have not sent or recieved any pm's from the fishing club i have no idea about how its reading. |

How long you have been a member of this club does not mean much as I see it. what matters is how long you have been a fisherman and what experiences you have had and what you learned from experience what to use to catch fish. I'm not a "Pro" but I learned a lot by watching others and from my own mistakes. |
