Can you please all of the members of this international club how you can justify running a contest, as you are still doing, that discriminates against Mexican and Canadian members? If you click on the contest tab at the top of the page, you have the usual two contests for all to enter. When you click the contest button at the bottom of the page, where one would go to contact the club, YOU STILL HAVE THE SAME OLD DRAWS GOING ON THAT EXCLUDE A GOOD MANY OF YOUR MEMBERS, be they regular or Life Members like myself. I just tried to enter and you can only enter if you live in the 50 states! This is Illegal and is begging for a lawsuit! Treat all members exactly the same or soon you won't be able to treat anyone!

Welcome to the United States of America!  It is the land of Free and the home of the Brave.  Great men and women have given their very blood to insure that and right now stand in harm's way making sure it remains that way.  Ever wonder why there are so many USA flags flying around you.  If you were a US citizen you would not be writing this stupid article and since you are not let me suggest you pack up your bags and go back to wherever you were and enter the contests there.  If not!  Look around you and try telling your neighbor and I am pretty sure you may learn quickly how we got those freedoms and how we do not intend to give them away to you or anyone else!  I sure hope you are one of my new neighbors!

I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

Hey Braindrain!!! 1st - Your "Handle" says it all to begin with.
2nd = IF the club did discriminate against anyone, there would not have been any Canadians listed as WINNERS in the big fish contest.  Check it out before you make an "off the wall" statement like you have.
IF you have a complaint, and I can't see one, take it up with the people that handle problems and that would be the "IT" people of the Club.  Your post here is not really called for as there are other avenues for you to use on this matter.

A couple of questions / thoughts for you folks that are bashing braindrain

Shouldn't a Life Member be treated the same regardless of where they live? IMHO...I would bet that LM's not in the 50 states were NOT told upfront that their participation in various things would be limited to only US folks.

Secondly...we know that the Club is marketing for members all over the globe. Have any of you seen just HOW the marketing is being handled? Is it done "upfront" about limitations?

    A thought for braindrain

I don't know if you are aware of this...but shipping items to foreign countries has become REALLY expensive because of tarrifs, Customs Duties and the shipping charges in general. And to top it off...many times a person can't put insurance on items shipped out of the US. I recently had this happen to me when a guy from Australia bought some collectable lures from me. I couldn't even send the pkg "Registered Mail" for tracking. Luckily...it did get there...but I will have to re-think doing something similar.

What I am trying to say is that the Club has probably decided that shipping outside of the 50 states has become far too risky and costly.

THANK-YOU Dave!!!! I was wondering who would stand up.

Braindrain has a thread down in the members only feedback section of this site. You guys that are doing the bashing should go read it. It will greatly enlighten you, as it did me. If you can understand what Ed posted.

Braindrain seems to be a good guy with an honest complaint. Try talkin to him and understanding what he is saying and what has happened to him.

Good folks bashing on good folks.

    Back to lurking mode.

    Good luck Braindrain.

I see no reason to bash Braindrain on this topic. The name of the club is the North American Fishing Club. To me north america includes Canada and Mexico. I can understand shipping problems, but tariffs should not be an issue since NAFTA. The club's marketing can be misleading, but more because of "creative omission" than out and out dishonesty. Read the fine print before commiting. Tom

Tom, I think & I do know that North America is USA & Canada, Mexico is Central America an then you have South America. So I don't think we should allow other countries to join N.A.F.C.
But if they want a club start one like" World Fshing Club".

I don't see a problem with our fellow fishing brothers and sisters from other countries joining. even if they are not from north america(usa and canada). however there has to be an understanding that services and benefits offered may not be the same. I would not expect the same if I i joined something like the european fishing club if there is such a thing. Fishing brotherhood should not have borders.

The only problem(s) I see is that it is the "North American Fishing Club". North America is the United States and Canada...Mexico is Central America.
Now, on to another related topic...If "Jose" the illegal immigrant, joins the club, enters a contest, wins a contest..lets say a bass fishing boat...how is he going to claim it??
Uncle Sam is going to want their share..."Jose" has no social security number to claim the winings on his income tax form...Same goes for Canadians...Not all is entitled to all of the benefits of being a member...that's just the way it is...and what another member said...shipping to foreign countries is expensive and somewhat difficult.
But did we really join the NAFC to win contest and giveaways??? I fish 2-3 times a week...I enjoy sharing information and tips, meeting new people who enjoy and who are passionate about the same thing I do...not worry about winning giveaways and contests....

    Tight lines...

I stand corrected...Mexico is part of North America...Not Central America. But as with any US based company/organization...contest are only open to US residents only...

Although the club is a US based company. I do not think it limits the contest rules what does seem to limit rules( other than the club) is the said countries rules on foriegn contest. Just like some states do not allow contest winners. I see this in coke and beer contest policies all the time. I was going to enter a contest to meet my favorite F1 drivers in Belgium but I am not going to be in Belguim. The contest is open to all members of the team regardless of nationality and is a British based company (Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes). So it is probably the clubs rules or even international policies. Just a thought

Uhh I think the reason for the club not catering to Mexicans wants are because that's the rules they made if you don't like it who cares, leave the club.

Believe the last time I did my geography both Mexico & Canada were in North America!  Sometimes it is hard to remember but many US citizens seem to forget.  Is it not true that citizens of  USA, Canada, & Mexico are all North Americans?  I won't even get into Central America or South America though those people think of themselves as "Americans" and I believe rightly so.  Uncle Tom
