Guys this will be the third catfishing trip on the James River in support for our returning troopers, It is sponsored by my web site "Mastercaters" and we have had a large growth in people attending. this is not just for the troopers, their families are encouraged to join them, we have several large pontoon boats for bigger parties and all the captains are all well respected catfishermen that fish the river year round for trophy catfish. we try to have a good food spread afterwords and some snacks to carry with you as well as some morning snacks at the ramp.
We work with the Wounded Warrior Project group as well as the warrior transition units at Ft. Lee, Ft. Eustice, as well as all the local guard and reserve units, I have an inside line with the 80TH division training unit local here and they are very committed to helping make this grow.
This year we are working on adding several new sponsors as well as the city council support. there are many new things in the works for this year and with the help of of the new sponsors we will have another major event.
the tentative date and location for the event this year:
DATE: 31 OCTOBER 2009
WHERE: HOPEWELL MARINA
Hopewell, Virginia
directly off state route 10 at the mouth
of the Appomattox River where it joins
the James River
I will up date this post as the details are worked out. and will give an E-MAIL addy to sign up at. I would like your input on this as to what kind of post-trip "party" you would like to see, just keep in mind all the "party" extras will be supplied by either donations or paid for out of the web site's fund. please remember that all the boats, fuel, time and tackle are donated by the captains and members of the web site, we ask for no money and will not accept any in return, all we ask is for the troopers to relax, have fun and fellowship with guys and gals that want to show their support any way we can, most of all the members and captains are all vets and love doing this.
We had a big bar-b-q spread the first year with fried turkeys, hot dogs, and burgers, and all the condiments you can think of all cooking was done on site and all the salads and deserts were all home made, this past year we asked around for ideas had a major pizza party with over 50 pizzas of all sorts and three monster coolers of drinks.
Please feel free to coment on this, and here is a link to the slide show from the 2008 trip
