Well, I was wondering is there a place were they breed fish and you can fish there.
Like a bass farm, Were they breed bass and for like 5$ you can fish all day.
is there anything like that?
I remember reading in books about Trout farm's, were you can fish from and stuff |

That's not very sportsman like RRichards151. Why don't you try fishing an actual lake or river? Trout farms are made so that little kids can fish out of them. There is one in my area and only kids and hillbillies who want a free dinner fish out of there. No challenge at all to catch them because the fish are overpopulated and underfed and must compete for food so even a child can catch them. I say stick to the open water if you want to be a real fisherman! |

No. It's actually a very tumultuous river when, at the time, had very rapid currents. And I caught the largest bass I have ever seen anyone catch or ever heard of being caught down there so... yeah. |

Well, The only real body of water around me is The intercostal, The only thing i have pulled out of that so far is pinfish or spot's (W/e you prefer). Last time i caught a real fish that put up a fight was 5 years ago, When i took a charter out of virgina... And i dont mean a farm were there's concreate pool's and stuff... I mean big wide open lakes where you can get boats out in stuff, No some little pathetic concreate ponds. Im talking Big wide open ponds, Werethey stock the fish because where i live in Florida (The City) there are no real freshwater lakes |

I used to catch nice jack crevelle, snook, tarpon, ladyfish, etc in the Intracoastal Waterway in Ft.Lauderdale. Fish around bridge pilings, boat dock pilings, mangrove roots, etc.

I can't imaging there being anyplace in Fla that there isn't a freshwater lake that holds bass within an hour's drive. My local trout farm offers trout fishing but also has a fair sized lake/pond that is stocked with a wide variety of fish. They charge $8 a day to fish there and because it is a fee fishing area, no license is required. |

Actually Florida City is almost down to the keys (South of Miami). For freshwater, I might suggest heading up to Okeechobee. I can see from a map you are near the 'glades so it would seem like there would be freshwater fishing in that area. Maybe some of the highway side canals. There should be some fishing available in the Keys aslo. I guess the big question is "boat" as some of these areas almost require a boat. Find your nearest honest to gosh tackle stores, not the sporting goods department in (X)-mart and talk to them, most are happy to help if you are going to be a customer. Maybe if you are stuck on shore, perhaps a surf stick would give you the reach to get to better water, many possiblities. Good luck. |

Bear with them '151...it's like that Geico commercial...they'll figure it out. P.S. What about those canals they mentioned? I always see a lot of those when I'm in Florida...can you reach any of those on foot? |

Being without wheels would put a crimp in things. Due to an eyesight issue I also don't drive and am dependent on others for transportation. My advantage is that where I live there is a limited amount of public transportation giving me access to a number of fishing opportunities including the downtown Chicago lakefront. |

Hey Pegsguy, how is that downtown lakefront fishing? I visited Chicago years ago and I have always wondered about it. Went down to that big mall on a pier and the Goose Island Brewery...the water looked good.

What's wrong with fishing a bass farm?? I think that would be a great way to hone your skills and build confidence in your abilities and tackle/gear. Besides, 151 is 14 yrs old. Give him a break. I wish there was a bass farm near me, i'd be there all day. |

what barresi said, Whats wrong with a bass fishing farm? It gives you a reason to break out that old takkel you have had in your garrage from when you were a kid. Plus who cares if its for little kids, Im sure all of you and i have a little kid in us, Its all for fun, Its not like for fishing a tourney there. |

Agreed '151...there's a little kid in all of us. I wish I didn't live so far away, I would take you fishing. But I still think if you keep looking, you'll find places you can fish close to you. Florida is a treasure trove of fishable waters...wish I was there! |
