So i was reading some funny stories about fishing today and i came across one where this guy had taken a nice looking girl fishing for a date and when he caught a HUGE bass the girl starts screaming LET IT GO!  DONT HURT IT! PLEASE DONT HURT IT!

That's a no brainer!!!...the girl goes...Hahaha...but seriously...if I had a trophy fish, I'd probably just take a picture and measure the length and girth...and weigh it of course. Then have a mount made up by global fish mounts. There better than the real thing.

Hmmm.....I'd have to say with my personal experience, the trophy bass is harder to come by than the girl! Hey Barresi, did you have a mount made of that big striper in your avatar? what would something like that cost?

Hey Mo...I didn't, she was my personal best, but my ultimate goal is the 50 lb club. She was alittle over 30 something pounds. If I'm not mistaken, a mount that size is probably around 300+500 dollars.

You know they say there are other fish in the sea, But i highly doubt there is another 8 or 9lb bass your going to ctach in your life.'



What im thinking about doping is since im catching more fish is the one's that are a good size and chunky i am going to fillet them and package them and give them to the homeless shelter

Trophy size fish are generally old and near the end of their lives anyhow. If you have the financial means to have it mounted, do so. If not, photograph and measure it and release it. The later would be my choice.

I would photo and release. I've been a catch and releaser my whole life. Walleye on the other hand, those are my favorite eaters. I have a hard time throwing those back

Who's to say when a fish is near the end of it's life? Im in no position as a fisherman to make that call. In 2 or 3 years a fish can grow tremendously in size. Im a catch and release kind of guy as it protects the fisheries and allows other anglers a chance at landing quality, trophy sized fish! As long as you have photographic evidence there is no way anyone can ever call you a liar anyways! Snap a few pictures and let them go. And besides, it's easier to carry around a photo of your giant catch in your wallet or on your phone as proof than it is to lug a round a giant, stuffed fish to show people!

Sorry to say, I grew up in Iowa catching, killing and eating about everything. Heck, my dad was a commercial catfisherman on the Mississppi River and I was his "deck hand" so to speak in high school. Now, I'm 48, retired from the US Navy, been around the world, and now lived here in California for 16 years. Bass here are common in the 7# - 10# range (unlike Iowa), but I would never mount a bass. I take many pictures of my catches and that's enough bragging rights for me. I catch and eat some fish, like smaller stripers, occasional trout, and saltwater fish, but let all of my bass go. A fish is at the end of its life when you or someone like you kill it. However, I would certainly get great photos, weights and measurements of any really trophy fish and send the info to Global Fish Mounts for a mount. That's the way to go to have a wall hanger and to allow someone else the same opportunity to catch a trophy.

And I would NEVER choose a fish over a girl.

I just took my girlfriend fishing(Went awesome) and she talked a lot and we still caught fish, Theres no reason for a women to{1}**** her mouth while fishing.

If all the dates any one went on was fishing i giarentee there would be lots more fishermen and women

Measure the fish ,take pictures and then release fish !! Send pic's and measurements and have a Fiberglass mount made! will last longer and look better!!!!

I would love to have found a girl that enjoys fishing. My wife doesn't fish but tolerates my fishing especially when I am with one of our sons or the grandkids.

pegsguy i`m like you i`ve got the greatest little woman in the world(over 50 years) she doesn`t fish but she enjoys my fishing i think i`ll keep her and the grandkids also i like talking about the one that got away rather than looking at it on the wall

I don't see why there can't be room for personal stories here. This is after all a community of sorts. Way too often these pissin' contests get started over a misunderstood or misinterpreted comment. Unfortunately some people just have thin skins.

Pegsguy, this situation actually started on another one of '151's threads, "Take her fishing", but carried over to this one. The offending comment was erased there, but the argument continues here. I hate to see this happening...it sets a bad example for our young anglers. BJsullivan started this mess with the comment that was erased, and should have been warned about it, and that should have been the end of it!

Yes she did, And your point is?

Now RR, it may not seem so to ya now, but as ya get older, ya will find that your frettin' for not, when ya let others get under your skin! You will find that there are some, that are only capable of being tuff from afar! Ignore it. It is meaningless!
Now, as far as a date on fishin' or huntin' trips, every trip is a date for me. I can't get out of the house to go fishin' or huntin', that my lady isn't right by my side.  The sad part is, after all these years, she is now getting to a point were she is starting to best me!!! Just plumb tickles me silly!

mo65 I did'nt start anything.I made a joke about his post and they responded by referring to me as a sexist ,ignorant with the brain of a child.I am none of the three.there was no derogatory remarks made to either of them until they responded with their remarks.I will let the issue drop .Allen the only one trying to sound tough from afar is RR with his "what of it " remark.

Yes, I'll agree if you look at just this thread, it appears that you made a joke and they jumped all over you. But that's not the whole story...like I said...it started with your comment on "Take her fishing?" If it was bad enough for the club to delete it, then you should be able to understand why these guys were offended.

I dident even realize they took it down,

But the comment that you made me and people jump was when you said that women should keep there mouth shut while fishing.

Now that may have been a joke, Thats not really even funny, But you could have but behind it Just kidding or something like that
