Well my biggest fish was about a 10 pound striper off a pier down the street, but my proudest catch was probably a 6 inch or so perch on Lake George in NY. It was a family trip and I was the official guide, and this was right after I made myself a few inline spinners. I tossed one out when nobody was catching anything after about half an hour (long time for non-fisherpeople) and after about 2 drops I was hooked up to the start of a stellar vacation day. Probably my proudest fishing moment because it was on a foreign body of water with no electronics, first fish of the day on a lure I made myself. That never gets old. |

25 pound flathead catfish caught on medium bait casting bass tackle while bass fishing. Took about 15 to 20 minutes to boat it.

My PB was a 240# striped marlin that I caught in Cabo. But hey, catching a big marlin in Cabo isn't a huge accomplishment, they seem to be everywhere down there. I've also caught a 120# tarpon in Key West, which I thought put up a better fight than that marlin. Of course, also using a smaller set-up which didn't allow for me to horse it in. |

I caught a carp that was around the 34 to 36" range. It was really fat and it closely resembled a European caught carp (it's stockiness, headshape, etc.), but it was caught in Alabama. I was using 8 lb. Trilene, so I was fairly certain the line was going to snap sometime during the fight. It did, but I had already landed the fish. It was really dark outside (midnight) so I didn't really get a great look at the fish and I couldn't get a picture. I could only tell that it was huge! |
