The arbor knot works best. It can also be used with braided line providing you put a wrap of surgical tape around the spool first! Here's a animation that shows how it's tied. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I also use the arbor knot, but with braid I use mono (2 ft. leader) & make a few wraps first to be sure the braided line don't slip. Hope it helps Darrell

Thanks for pointing out a great site.  I like how the break down each move to tie knots.  I definitly saved this one to my favorites.

i love the Rapala knot (that sight shows it the easiest), i use it on suspending ,foating/&/brokenbacks too, it takes the split ring out of the picture... to me,  the more links the more possible 'weak' links,  i do hate the split ring with braided even more , and split rings are sharp on the entrance /exit points, the lures loop is not...just a opinion... try it!!!! i have done it on crank baits too,  if jigs/spinners/soft plastic hooks had split rings I would take it off too, why have one on your lures, we dont' slide line on and off like keys? lol...BUT some lures do NEED a split ring for best resolts!!!
