Has anyone used any of the artificial structure that's available?
I fish on a community lake of about 20+ acres that is roughly 15 - 18 feet deep at max. Was thinking of putting out some artificial structure as there is no structure in this lake. It used to have some christmas trees, but they have long since gone.
Lake has a very good bass population, and some real nice crappie. Just hard to find the crappie, especially after they spawn.
Was wondering if this commerical structure that can be purchased really does work.

My first question would be "does anyone manage this body of water?" If this lake is managed by a park district or other entity it is a good idea to check with them before doing anything. The usuall answer is "go right ahead" although a question or two might be aske to make sure nothing harmfull is introduced. There is another discussion on this topic floating around the forums somewhere. As far as your crappie, I think that some structure in moderately deep water might give them something to relate to after the spawn. Tom

Lake is managed by state for catfish. They put 1000 in every fall. State biologist has said it needs more structure.
