Hey guys, I was just wondering about my membership. I got my first packet with my membership card and sticker in the mail that came with a pack of hooks with it. Is this a field test product or just a gift from NAFC?

No, its probably just a free gift for joining.

Unless you have filled out the test program page or filled out the paper form and mailed it back, then no. The test product should include info on how to evaluate it and your profile online will show you need to fill out the test program form. I have been a member for a year and got the same thing when I joined. Get ready, they will start sending you books to try, get you sign up for lifetime membership, and I have heard they will send you videos, too. I have yet to be sent a true test product. I am beginning to wonder if the test program is active.
As a new fisherman, I have enjoyed the books and they send free gifts with the books. The free stuff was first fishing line and the rest has been 4 or 5 soft plastics (worms and such).

A field test is always accompanied by an email announcing the item. There are times when the product arrives before the email but this is rare. It has been my experience that a true field test is shipped by itself, not with a book or video etc. New members receive numerous 'free' gifts like line and hooks, usually packed with merchandise sent "on approval". You can ask the club to not to send these offers and they will stop. Stopping these offers does not seem to hurt your chances of receiving a field test, in fact, both field test items I have received have come after my opt out. Since 'opting out' I have received a Banjo Minnow kit and an Okuma spinning reel. (The reel arrived about 3 days after the lakes around here froze. Nice timing) Tom

Just a freebie from N.A.F.C., and the hooks are pretty cheesy, alright for panfishing only. You will receive them occasionally in the mail. I give all mine to my granddaughter.

Thanks for the response guys. But I don't think these hook will do much for my panfishing. Heavy and thick. I like mines light and strong But since it was a gift, I guess I'll just give it to my uncle cause he do love free stuff.lol Nang
