my friend was using the money minnow yesterday in this pond and he was catching bass left and right.  He caught 12 and i caught 3 on a zoom fluke.   Has anyone used these baits yet.  If so tell me about the minnow and craw.  Thank you.

I resurrected this rather brief thread because it reminded me how much this lure sucks! I've had horribile results with them...had big fish grab 'em, but hookups with this lure are disappointing at best. I watched a Jimmy Houston show where he couldn't hook them either. He had to spread the hook some ridiculous amount and even like that he was still losing fish! LOL! Bill Dance, on the other hand, was KILLIN' them with the Money Minnow...but he's the ONLY one I've seen have that happen. Most guys I've talked to about them have had results similar to mine. How did they work for you?   SmileyCentral.com

The money minnow doesn't come with hooks. You decide what kind and how heavy of a hook you use. If you don't hook up well with them, I'm willing to bet that it may have been how you had it rigged rather than the actual bait itself's fault. But anyway as far paddle tail swim baits go, the money minnow is for sure one of the better ones out there. It's all about how where and when you fish it though, just like with any other bait. I like them in clear water because they are more natural and subtle looking.

The Fat Money Minnows DO come with hooks...and nail weights. All Money Minnows come with rigging instructions on the package...not to mention that every show that plugged them gives detailed instructions about rigging them...all claiming they must be rigged perfect to get good results. Kinda sounds like they anticipated trouble! Come on ILbassin, I think I rigged 'em right...so did Jimmy Houston. LOL. I wish I had a link to that episode so you could see what I'm talking about.Maybe the behavior of the fish has an effect on success...more aggressive bass would swallow the bait, making hookup much better. I'll agree that it's one of the better paddle tails, but the simple fact is, you can't put a hook designed for slow moving soft plastics on a fast moving swimbait and expect great results.Tell ya what I did that got me the most success with them...hang a treble hook from the main hook...I use a red treble for that bleeding minnow effect. This helps considerably.

    P. S. Hey ILbassin, did you notice how they have to be hooked just so so in order to swim right?

I actually like to throw them on a big bullet style jig head.

Ah ha! So You're the one not rigging per instructions, lol! Seriously though, thanks for the tip...rigging on a jig leaves the hook exposed...probably the reason for your success. Now that I think about it, I've seen a bunch of In-fisherman shows where they were rigged that way...some how slipped my mind. I'm definitely gonna try it! Now ILbassin, a tip for you. In case you don't know, you can get Money Minnows from Lurenet.com, they have sales on them all the time. I have bought them as low as $1.59 a pack! You just have to check in often to see what's on sale.

Spring is in the air...can't wait to try some Money Minnows rigged on a jighead instead of those EWG's Yum recommends...I'll post my results later.
