If you're fishin' the baits you had pictured in your posts...nothing wrong there. If you're fishin' them the way we described...that should be good. The size of the weight shouldn't be a problem unless its excessive, I use 1/16th to 3/8 oz. depending on the situation. Sometimes I use baits MUCH larger than you're using now. Just the other day I was using a 10" Yum Ribbontail and none of the 5 bass I caught on it were as long as it! For the record, I got skunked this morning too.

Where are you fishing? When I fish ponds I use lighter baits. But at lakes what you are doing should be fine. Its called fishing for a reason. If it was easy it would be called catching
    -keep fishin

Another name for this is called...."paying your dues". You have to pay your dues! What I mean by that is, your going to have to go out there every chance you get and learn, trial and error...that's how you become a good knowledgable fisherman. You'll learn...it might be frustrationg at first, but you'll get there.
