I live in Upstate SC, and have been fishing lake Keowee lately. I am usually a pond fisherman so I don't even own a boat (YET!). So, I was looking for any ideas as to how to catch bass in that reservoir right now when the water temp is too warm for the baitfish and bass to come up into the creek channels and coves. Any ideas as to how to get to these fish that are obviously in the deeper parts of the lake from the bank, and if so, what would be the best baits or lures to use? Any suggestions would be a big help. Thanks.

There are always going to be some fish shallow, and if you don't have a boat, you can't get to the deep water anyway. I would fish just like you do normally, look for some cover and have at it! Depending on the lay of the lake, you MAY be able to reach some deep water, but I wouldn't worry about that until i had fished the shallows first.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

I think the fish in Keowee are a little freaked out right now anyway cause the power plant sucked abunch of water out. The shallows are like an underwater ghost town. I haven't seen any bass or shad schools... or even bream except for here and there, i'll keep tryin though! I'm gonna get me a little Bass Tracker in a few months hopefully, then I can avoid the whole situation and take it to 'em! Thanks man.

Look for banks that drop deep steeply. Bass will use those to school baitfish against and you can also reach that deeper water more easily.
I swear, it was this big (---------------------------------------)

I had some luck Sunday morning. Found a large point that was covered with large rocks (submerged at normal lake levels), there is still alot of rocky terrain submerged. Started out on top with a buzzbait and a floating Rapala, nothing. Then ran some dive-tos and deep runners, nada. Went to the bottom strait off the point(which turned out to be about 30ft. deep) and worked a Texas rig, YUM 7" purple/tan worm nice and slow and BAM! Caught a 1.9lb bass. A few casts later caught a 3.8lb. bass then another in the 2 pound range. I missed a few as well. By about 10 or 10:30 a bunch of boats and jet-skis started buzzing by the point so I was forced outta there preety much. Some of these ski boat and jet ski drivers are really inconsiderate. At least I found a spot where I can get to 'em and found what I can get 'em to hit. Also tried out some hooks I haven't used before. Owner 4/0 Twistlocks, I like them alot, and the YUM worms seem to taste good to the bass cause they seem to hold on good and they'd pick it back up when I prematurely set the hook a time or two. Going back tomorrow morning, this time I'll take my camera. Thanks for the advice guys!
