Hello my NAFC members. I am in need of another fishfinder for my 18' searay that is outdated(really out of date) and will be needing an upgrade on it. I was looking for a good brand but a fair price. I have a tight budget but love to live my life stress free. So if you guys may price range varys and almost forgot my boat is a 1996 searay 175 fish/ski nothing fancy about it.

    Thanks

Check my post in Ask a Fisherman. There are also a number of older posts that are worth digging back for. Tom

Sorry for being a little late with this, but I just joined the club.  I purchased an Eagle Cuda 350 last year and have been very pleased.  It has mapping GPS built in and good resolution on the sonar.  The GPS antenna is in the unit making the installation easy.  It cost me just over $200 which is not bad for a multi-purpose unit.
    Good luck.

The best low price locator/gps with mapping chip capability that I've found is Humminbird's 385c for 399.99. It is a color unit that will accept a Navionics map chip. The only drawback is its small screen, but it has an nice bright screen, and it has a swivel base from which you can detach the head unit with ease for storage or travel.

Well for starters...what's your budget? I'm a fan of Lowrance. You can get the Lowrance DSI for about 500. I just got the Lowrance HDS 8 with LSS 1. It's unbelievable!!! The structure scan is amazing and with the insight mapping...pretty damn good. I bought it on the American way....charge it!!!! lol

The other drawback to the 'bird 385 is that you are limited to the Navionics maps. Each publisher of maps has their individual strengths and having a choice is a very good thing. Tom

I've been looking at the Cuda 350 also, but haven't found it for less than $189. Originally, I was looking at the Lowrance Mark-5X DSI for $300 but read not-so-good reviews. But the Cuda has better reviews and is less expensive. I am just waiting to get some money ahead to buy a new unit.
