Hey everyone, I need some advice/opinions from those who know a thing or two about the different options for bow mount trolling motors. Currently I have an older 36lb thrust MinnKota model which works ok other than it's starting to show its age and the mount piece is broken, causing some difficulties steering smoothly. I've been looking at those new MinKota i-Pilot models and just want some honest opinions from fellow fishing club members before I spend that kind of cash on it. I take at least 2 deep cycle batteries with me every trip just in case, but efficiency is still a priority. I like the idea of setting coordinates and allowing the motor to do most of the work for you, but do these features work as well as you thought they would? What are some of the cons? Also, if you've found any other trolling motors to exceed your expectations I'd like to hear about them. I have an old MinnKota and have taken ganders at the newer ones, but I'm definitely not opposed to researching other brands if they've served others well.

Whatever you buy make sure it has digital motor control. This technology greatly decreases power consumtion and gives you more battery life. Tom
