A North Carolina fisherman caught a 143 lbs. Blue Catfish this past Saturday, June 18, 2011. The monster was caught at Buggs Island, better known as Kerr Reservoir in South Boston, Va.

I couldn't believe the story when I read it! A 143 lbs. blue in Virginia?! How awesome! Congrats to Mr. Anderson on his haul!

The link to the story via The Roanoke Times (Va.) is below! Hope you all enjoy!

I'm surprised it was caught at Buggs Island. You usually hear about very large blue catfish being caught in the tidal rivers in Virginia.

I was very surprised too. I live about an hour or two away from Buggs and I've heard first hand of divers saying they've seen Cats at the dam that were bigger than grown men!

I have a feeling a lot more people are going to flock to Buggs now that this behemoth has been caught!

I heard that is was 58" long. Amazing how fat they get without really growing long.

There must be a really plentiful forage base there.
