Definitely a heavier set up. Around 7/8/9 weight would be my guess.
A better-ish drag system is something that for those species is a must too. Unfortunately with those things come a higher price tag...

I would recommend a 8 weight it allows you to cast the bass bug's a lot easier as far as line a weight forward floating line would be a good start. you can always add a sink tip if needed .
    as for lures
Mulder minnows, woolly buggers, clouser minnows, deceivers, dualberg divers. poppers, crease flys , wiggle bugs .
    frog imitations, crayfish imitations,

for wire leader goto the craft store and get some 45 strand beadalon wire its tieable usaly a leader would be 4 feet of 45 lb mono or floro 2 feat of 25 lb mono or floro
then 2 feat of wire .

Okuma makes some reasonably priced reals with a drag systems .

it should serve you well . you can cast a line 1 size up or one size down with any fly rod . so say you have a 8 weight you can also use a 7 wight or 9 weight line .
here is another url to check out on fly fishing for pike .  .http://members.shaw.ca/clives/pikeflyfish.html

whats the weights mean and iwas checking some of them other links they said to use a special tapet or whatever its called 0X i think to allow for the vicious strikes from smallies im gonna be targeting small mouth 90% of the time the restwill be large mouth if i can put my frog rod down but with that comes the pike hows fly linehold up in the weeds my braid saws it and i can just yank em out fly line seems like it would collect alot of grass

I have an 8 weight rod and use 6 weight line for bass.  The stiffer rod tosses the line just fine and gives me the backbone I need for the larger fish.  I use a 3 weight rod for trout...

the weight is referring to how much the line weights so for example a 9 weight fly line goes on a 9 weight fly rod in general
i assume your referring to the ti-pit the ox 1x 2 x 3x refers to the  thinnest diameter of the leader or breaking strength in lb like 12 lb or 4 lbs fishing line   one can always tie a section  of  mono fishing line to a  leader to change the ti-pit

im not really sure on the fly line and grass as i don't fish it in heavy cover as of yet . but it is relatively strong im sure you could add a wire leader to help cut through the weeds . and some fly patterns have weed guards .

Some manufacturers make a bass bug taper fly line that helps cast large wind resistant bass bugs but if you are limited to one line I would go with the weight forward. a bit more versitile.

I recently added fly casting to my arsenal. I got a Daiwa SF706 reel and Lefty Kreh Signature Series line, W6WF (floating weight foreward weight6) and a White River Dogwood Canyon rod, weight 7 for a little more backbone for the panfish/largemouth/striper species I'm targeting. You can go one weight of line either way of the rod's rating without problems.
If you are new to fly casting I highly recommend the instructional DVD Scientific Anglers "Basic Fly Casting" by Doug Swisher. You can find it browsing the DVD's on the BPS online catalog. Awesome instruction.

Clayton if I was you I'd go with a 7 wt rod and put 8wt line on it you will find it will cast a lot easier and load better for you. The 7 wt rod will handle anything you want to catch. I use my 7 wt for Salmon and have landed 50lb plus fish on it without any problems, I would suggest either a Cortland or Lefty Kreh rod as they won't cost you an arm and a leg and are very good rods for the money. Cabelas carries the lefty Kreh rods and Cortlands can also be found many places , hope this helps ya out with your decision.

If you are dealing with large pike go to a fly shop and pick up some tyger wire.

Don't go to a craft store. Go to a fly shop, find steel leader for fly fishing specifically, that you can tie.

On lots of things you can skimp in price or make do with other things, but with lines, rods, and reels get what will do the job.
Anything that is that connection between catching or losing that fish is the most important.
Other aspects can be altered to accommodate but not this category.

Flies, go with streamers and poppers. Bass love woolly buggers if you're in the weeds or rocks, pike love perch if you have perch in the water, find perch colored streamers for pike. Good luck.
