Does anyone now a light weight weedless worm I can throw on a 6 wt rod? I've discovered that theres lots of 3lbs+ bass in the pond and I want to land one on a fly rod if anyone knows a pattern please leave a post.

try a zonker strip or a bigger version of the sanjuan worm , tie down some heavy mono to the bend of the hook then bring it down and around and up through the hook eye and back over the top of the hook shank a bit tie off and whip finish . you can either tie the zonker strip in to the top of the hook shank OR try this patern http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KakimPJUPNY bunny strip leach you don't have to use the flash or weight it . |

You may also want to try a wooly bugger and use rod tossers tip on making a fly weedless. Alot of the frog patterns are sold weedless as are alot of the other bass bugs. these could also work in your situation.

i like your pattern the rod tosser but i would use a peice about 4 inches because thats what we have been catching them on....... would that get to heavy on a 6wt rod?

you could do something like this . tie the zonker strip in on rear of hook then instead of palmering it forward use floss or chenille or peacock herl to make a body add glue to the skin side of zonker strip fold zonker strip over the body and tie of : like making a zonker only with out mylar tubing . zonker strips come in different sizes and make sure you don't get a cross cut strip . you can sub the zonker strip and use a chamois and color it with sharpies .  |

you also could sub chenille for the zonker strip in the bunny leach pattern. just singe the ends of the chenille.
Be creative nothing says you can't sub materials in these patterns .
Brian gave you another great fly. sub a decent amount of zonker strip for a tail instead of the marabou and finish of like a woolly bugger.
another option
you could also use mylar tubing . stick in a few tuffs of marabue in the end of the tubing and hand wrap some thread around it . then insert a hook like you would thread a plastic worm then tie off at the head.

here is a simple chenille worm tie chenille in as a tail and wrap the rest forward to make the body . sorry for spamming post but they only give you 30 mins to edit so i cant add this in the other post  |

Wow Trev! I really like the link for tying the leech. It looks like there are several tying topics for me to study...I have put the link in my "favorites"!

L A zonker strips come in different sizes from magnum to micro i usually tie the tail on the leach so it is 1 1/2 - 2 x the length of the hook shank. i used my 6 weight to cast them . yes they are harder to cast when wet . Pink chenille worms work too.
Brown, pink, red, orange, even green have worked for me.
Try wrapping some tinsel around the wrapped chenille if you are going for only bass, they love the shine, other fish except sunfish won't usually hit one I've noticed. |
