...trout that is.  I know I may seem like a broken record (do young people know what that really means, anyways?), but I do love to share my daughter's success stories.  She goes so many days on the water coming up smelling like a skunk.  But, occasionally she does well.  She past Saturday, the family ventured to a new river and it didn't take long before my wife and daughter (Michelle) got into them.  It was a mix of nymphing and bugger stripping, and both did well.  But, with Michelle's lack of many years experience, she "long-lined" released many fish that hooked up.  Still managed to get some to hand.  These were all wild, as no fish are stocked in this river, so we never expected any trophy-sized fish, but that first one sure fought like a trophy, and that's all that counts.  Here's a couple of pics that I wanted to share.  She's a senior this year, heading to college this fall.  A dad like me might not get this many quality adventures in the future once she leaves the house.

Sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree about not having many future dates.  She is obviously enjoying the moments shared on the water.  The future will hold many hours shared when she comes home from school, summer break, etc.  I have been sharing the water with my son now for 28 years.  He always checks before the weekend to see if I'm available and is now pretty darn jealous when he has to work and I'm on the water.  When he was in school, it was the other way around.

That's great man. My oldest granddaughter started college this year. My 11 year old granddaughter is my fishing partner, hopefully for a few years yet.

Talking about Daughters. My oldest, Dawn, was over the other day and I was showing her some of the flies that I have been tying. And, much to my surprise, she tells me that she would like to learn to tie flies. I think that it may have something to do with the woolie-booger that I gave her last week when we were fishing. She had been using bait and not doing well. I gave her the booger that I had weighted heavy enough for her to use on a spin-cast rig, and she started killing them. Can you imagine that, at age 35, she comes back to Daddy to teach her to tie flies? It is a shame that I am just startibg and will have to practice my ass off just to stay ahead of her. Thank god you folks are out there to help my keep up the ruse.
